I agree with Anakin being the most important character. He is essential to the story line. HE killed the Jedi, HE was Luke and Leia's father, He married Padme, HE was the chosen one, and HE became Darth Vader. Shmi is also important too. It was Shmi's death that nudged Anakin to the dark side. Now, bare with me, Shmi is important herself, she gave birth to Anakin, but she zei there was no father. This implies that the force gave her the baby, right? So couldn't the force have gegeven it to any other woman, making her important instead? I just wanted to point out that fact.

It's kinda of a debate....it's Anakin Skywalker and Luke Skywalker AND Shmi Skywalker. If Shmi hadn't gegeven birth to Anakin there'd be no first movie. If Anakin hadn't existed there'd be no first, second, of third movie. And if Luke hadn't been born there'd be no fourth, fifth, of sixth movie.

Actually, Anakin has very little relevance to the plot of the first movie except in the podracing and the stupid space battle at the end. They'd have found a way off Tatooine and continued with the plot otherwise.

I would have to say Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. Without this character, the films wouldn't be as good even though the saga has alot of great characters.

It is defitnely Anakin Skywalker because it is his life story. The prequel trilogy starts with him as a child, and the original trilogy ends with him dying. Yes, there are many sub-main characters in ster Wars but Anakin is defitnely the one that is the most important. Technically, Darth Vader is Anakin Skywalker.

Anakin. Because if anakin never existed, there would be no chosen one. if he never existed, luke would have never existed. And if luke never existed, there would be no meer jedis left (Since all the jedis died and he was the only one left)

Hold on one seconde there. I don't mean to disagree with you're commentaren about who's number one. But seriously, u should consider the fact that without Obi-1 Kenobi, there wouldn't be the last of the Jedi's. Obi-1 is also important, as well as Yoda is. Not to mention Luke and his friends.

Definitely Anakin. But another might be Qui-Gon Jinn. If he hadn't been so rebellious and brought Anakin to the Jedi, Anakin might stayed a farm-boy forever.

I can't really answaer that, because let's say Qui-Gon Jinn got killed door Xanatos. Then he'd be replaced door someone else in the films. Same goes for everyone. Without Anakin, Luke, Shmi, Obi-Wan, Qui-Gonn, Yoda, Palpy, Leia, Han, Lando, Chewie, everyone would have a replacement.

Other than that, I'd say Anakin. Without him (no matter how sucky Christensen's acting was), we would have the Galaxy as we know it. As a replacement, Sidious might have turned someone else to his will. Someone less strong, someone not the chosen one. Without Anakin, we'd never have a succesful rebellion, because we wouldn't have Luke and Leia to keep the whole thing going. Bail Organa would have been killed, then we'd have Mon Mothma and Ackbar left. They'd be captured, and Ackbar would be executed and Mothma would be imprisoned.

Thus u can see a lot of side effects of no Anakin.

But then let's say we had no Qui-Gonn. Who'd bring Anakin to the Jedi? No one. Eventually he would grow up and kom bij the Republican forces during the Clone Wars, then the Empire would take over, and Anakin would kom bij the Rebellion. But he wouldn't meet Padme. No Luke of Leia? Goodbye Galaxy, hello Imperial Rule.

What if we had no Obi-Wan? No one to cripple Skywalker. Sidious would have an ultimately powerful apprentice, a Darth Vader who could even summon Force lightning! Then we'd have no one to bring Luke to the direction of the Force. Even if say Yoda found him, it'd be too late.

My best antwoorden would be Anakin, Qui-Gonn, and Obi-Wan in that order.

I think it's Anakin/Vader. Because, c'mon, he's the Chosen One, and the only one alive ('cept Palpatine, but that old coot doesn't count. In fact, ster Wars would be *great* without his meddling) thorough all six movies. He's the one who made the decision to betray the Jedi, turn against them and slaughter them, and Vader is the one who almost single-handedly handed an entire Imperial Fleet, hunting Rebels for twenty-something years. Every single thing in all of the six films seems to revolve around him, and him only. It just wouldn't be ster Wars without him!
Oh, and just as a reminder - Luke and Leia would never be born. Galaxy, you're officially doomed.

Consider which characters appear in all 6 of the movies.

Anakin (obviously)
Obi-Wan (although in Ep 5&6 he's a ghost)
R2-D2
C-3PO

I think that's it. Those have got to be your only choices. Palpatine and Yoda are not in Ep 4.

Now consider that Anakin, Obi-Wan, Palpatine and Yoda are all dead door the end of Ep 6, what does Abrams have left to work with? The droids. I think that door the end of Ep 9, only the droids will have appeared in every movie unless they keep brining back the ghost of Anakin.

There are too many important characters but the most populair seems to be Anakin - so i'll say Anakin too because I really can't decide between Padme, Anakin and C3po and R2-D2, in many interviews George Lucas has zei that most of the ster wars films are seen from the view of the droids so Threepio and R2 are actually a huge part of the story and if Padme hadn't gegeven birth to Luke (+ Leia) then there would be no plot for Episode 4, 5 , + 6. But Anakin is the reason that C3PO exists and he is the reason that Padme had L+L so yeah Anakin is probably the most important character...

How about: There isn't one.
The series is meant to be an ensemble cast; without a lot of the characters the series wouldn't stand.
But the thing I find strange? People think Anakin is much meer important than Palpatine. How's that meant to work? Palpatine is controlling Anakin's actions in some way throughout most of the series, while having a massive impact on the globaal, algemene story in his own right. Most of the important things Amakin does are at Palpatine's demands; he was a pawn, and Palpatine could probably have taken over without Anakin's help.
