Is Vespa a real name and does it sound stupid?

Yet again another name problem from my cancelled series. XDDDDD
Well for this character, I was looking for a name that means wasp. However I only found Vesper, and it was a strictly male name. So I just changed the name to make it sound meer feminine.

Was this a good thing to do? And does it now look stupid?

It is certainly original. It reminds me of "Vesta" a little, and she's a roman goddess.

If u need a name meaning wesp, wasp check the word in other languages, sometimes it works for me.

Vespa is actually a commonly used name in a lot of different boeken genres. trouble is, it also depends on what personality your character has. If your character is a small, quiet and shy person, I would strongly reccomend u go with a meer soft type of name. Sice Vespa sounds like the name of a girl with a very fiery type of personality, u shouldn't use the name unless creating a fiesty character.

Well, if so. It has a lot of connection with the meaning. Wasps are fast and Vespas are fast too :D And no. It doesn't sound stupid. In fact, it sounds cool.

Vespa is main character's Deborah's cousin. She's much meer quick-thinking, alert and a plotter and doesn't rush into things. However out of jealousy of others having the better vrienden she manipulates others onto helping her drain others of their confidence. She tries to make herself seem like a good and social girl which isn't really that much.

Wasps are some sort of kruis between a bee and an ant. Ant's are oscial, bee's collect nectar and nectar makes honey. Honey is supposed to be sweet and innocent. Basically she's like a solitary wesp, wasp which live door themselves.

I found the name Vespasian (ve-SPAY-zhen) that means "west", "evening" of "wasp"!!! He was a first century roman emperor. So Vespa could be like a short feminine version of that:) It looks and sounds like a cute, cool name!
