frustrating people?

okay i kinda just wanted to vent and make sure it wasn't just me.so i keep running into giant arguments on a manga site with all these very stupid people. they're like newbies/judgmental as*holes. they come in getting mad about the incest, then the shota boys in college, the rape, the them not spending enough time in love with one person, then they come yell at me because i point out how stupid they are. i went as far as being nice enough to share a link with them about the definition of yaoi. then they try to say they're not insulting the author, that it's criticism, when they zei they didn't even read past chapter 3 and say it was horrible and had no depth. and i'm like "am i the only one smart enough to realize u ONLY read 3 chapters! of course it doesn't feel deep. this is why some newbies annoy me.the ones that bring their prejudice along only liking two buff, older guys, with no relation to each other with no rape and only love. :P it makes me want to scream "YAOI IS NOT FOR YOU!!! GO READ YOUR DAMN SHOUJO AND GO AWAY!" ......seriously, am i the only one that runs into stupid people like this?

Yaoi Antwoorden

While I agree that people who aren't fans should butt out, I think u may need to research the genre a little more. Yes, yaoi started out as pointless gay-ish love making. And I myself do enjoy a little twincest here and there, but the label of "yaoi" has recently started to branch out. It's not just unrealistic gay relationships anymore! I was happy to find some actual gay love that wasn't between two 15-year-old scrawny guys that aren't actually that good looking. But you've got terms confused. "Shounen Ai" is romance and "Shota" is yaoi with kids. College students aren't shota unless the kid is under the age of 13 and is smart enough to be in college. And they may not all be "newbs". I've been a fan for about 6 years now and I believe that my affection for the typical yaoi guy was just teenage hormones. My love of yaoi has been fine-tuned and, while I will still look at scrawny twinky-men,I believe that u may be the one who's the "newb". Not to offend, but since u probably offended a few, most women/men who like yaoi end up hating the stereotypical version. I think that many of the younger yaoi fangirls are actually closeted homophobes. That is,they wouldn't react to real gay men the way they react to yaoi.

i totally have no problem with real life gays either, like yaoi not all of its to my taste, but i still am fine with it. and i do agree the terms have been lost. some people were saying it's classified as shouta just because they put in the smaller people, but say they're older.
