As it turns out door the time I did get to the lab my Dad/creator was way past the worried state, and meer into the ticked off, in rage what-the-heck-were-you-thinking and where-have-you-been-do you-realize-what-could-of-happened state.
Yeah, typical parents.
I tried to roll in unnoticed, u know, nothing’s wrong, haven’t got a care in the world.
The roll never works. As soon as I walk in its “Jozyl Marie Jocoti!”
“Hey Doc! What’s up?” I smile…
“What’s up? Do u care to explain this to me?”
Yep, he’s fuming now.
He presses a button and the giant computer screen shows a broadcast of the evening news.
“Tonight we discuss the bizarre appearances of four Justice League over the past six weeks, one of them just occurring earlier this evening.” (camera widens to toon footage of the bank robbery attempt) “This bank robbery occurred at about 6:45 this evening at the Hometown Bank of D.C. As u can see a criminal runs out screaming “It’s Batman!” But all we can see are the shadows of the alley. Police have searched the scene finding no evidence of the Dark Knight, just a stolen armored truck and the rest of the criminal’s troupe.
The thieves describe it as a ‘Shadowed profile’ they were unable to see a face of even hear a voice. ‘It was him’ they claim they even saw his notorious ‘Batarangs’ but police have still found no evidence.
Some say that this is vigilante justice being acted out door ordinary ego-centric citizens. Police say that it has happened before but never has it left such an impression on the criminals themselves. So good it could have been the real deal. This is not the only act of strange justice; in fact it’s the fourth one to happen in a time period of six weeks. Superman, the Flash, and Martian Manhunter have all been doing this vigilante acts in D.C. All of them having similar account with the criminal, ‘A shadowed profile, not being able to see a face of hear a voice’ The league has issued no formal statement on the issue whatsoever.

Doc tuned it out before the newscaster had a chance to rat me out some more.
“Jozyl, we need to talk.”
“Yeah, I know.”
“In my office, now”
“Yeah…”
We went into the back office, one o f the few places my Dad/creator, (well let’s just call him Doc that’s I mean he is ‘Dr. Jacob Jocoti certified PhD ‘ it’s what I call him and it’s a long story we’ll get to it later) has made sure of that Cadmus hasn’t bugged.
“Jozyl! What in the world have u been doing?”
“I… well… I... um…” I stuttered. I know it's great way to start off.
“This is the fourth superhero in six weeks! Six weeks! Do u have any idea what could’ve happened if u would have been caught door the police? of even worse the League! They could have detained you, questioned you! You’re powers could’ve been exposed! You-“
“Doc! Doc!” I interrupted “Look I know that bad things could have happened, but they didn’t. What do u expect me to do? Sit around helpless half blind in a wheelchair while people could be getting hurt?!”
He sighed and put his hand on my shoulder so reassuring “Jozyl, it’s not your job to protect the world. You’re only a couple months old, and your powers… they’re not fully developed. If u start abusing them, then…” He trailed off, and then looked down at my hopelessly paralyzed legs.
“Then what?” I asked.
“Jozyl your powers started out as an experiment as were you. But I soon realized that I couldn’t do this. Marie Ann, she knew it was wrong from the start” He turned to a picture on his bureau of the now deceased woman who gave some of her DNA to create me.
“My… Mother?”
“I tried to stop it but your powers stayed and u lost your legs. I was too late to save u and Marie Ann. I’m… sorry.”
I kinda felt bad at that point. I mean my ‘Mom’ is a touchy subject. “Doc…I… Look I’m not gonna make any promises but I’ll try and stay out of… trouble, if I can.”
He took his hand off my shoulder. “Thanks Jozyl, please really try.” He left the office and I watched him go...
I was so stupid.
I should have promised.
Promises are a lot harder to break than just saying ‘you’ll try’
I can be such a huge idiot sometimes.
