Kathy Bates Confirmed for ‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ 

Never fear, “American Horror Story” fans — Kathy Bates has checked into “Hotel.”

Showrunner Ryan Murphy confirmed that Bates, who has starred in the past two seasons of the horror anthology, will return for the upcoming fifth season, “Hotel,” via Twitter on Wednesday.

Bates is the only “American Horror Story” past series regular to confirm her return. Jessica Lange, who has been a staple of the show since its beginning, confirmed last month that she was leaving the show.

Bates previously starred in “Freak Show” and “Coven.” Her role as Madame Delphine LaLaurie in “Coven” earned her an Emmy for supporting actress in a TV movie or movie.

Other “American Horror Story” vets Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Frances Conroy, Dennis O’Hare, Lily Rabe and more have yet to confirm whether they are returning or not. Peters said at Paleyfest that he wasn’t sure if he would return.

Bates will join previously announced cast members Lady Gaga, Chloe Sevigny, Matt Bomer, Cheyenne Jackson and Wes Bentley. Plot details about all of their characters are being kept under wraps.

“American Horror Story: Hotel,” produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television, will begin production on the 13-episode season in the late summer and premiere on FX in October.
