American Idol: David Cook Versus David Archuleta 

i love them both they rock!!!

They're both just OK, to me. Archuleta was an early favorite for the guys for me (as I wrote in link) simply because he wasn't making as many elementary performance mistakes as the other guys, not from any particular stand-out ability. He's likable, certainly. But Kady Malloy was tremendously likable when she wasn't on stage, too - even more than David, I'd say. She got dumped early on. David's going to have to make his performances more interesting to compensate for his moderate ability in order to stay in the competition to the end.

David Cook has shown more improvement, week over week, than Archuleta, but he still doesn't have anything that would impress me enough to buy an album.

The only two I'm impressed enough by to consider buying an album as of this week are Carly Smithson for the women and Michael Johns for the guys...and Michael's come from the back of the pack in the final stretch, in my estimation. They both have demonstrated the raw talent sufficient for a good music producer to generate something really fine for a recording.

That said, at the moment I'm not sure that I'd go out of my way to see any of them live in concert (whereas, I'd drive 50 miles to see Amanda Overmyer perform). I have high hopes - with no real reason for that hope - that the remaining contestants' performances will improve into something watchable, as well as pleasing to the ear.

Go David!! i love his voice! he deserves to win!!!XD

and i personally think that people are too nice and accepting of archuleta. he FORGOT the lyrics! i dont remember which song it was on now, perhaps it was during beatles night, but he FORGOT them. Several times. If anyone else had done that, he or she would have been destroyed, and simon would never have accepted it. i dont understand why people think he's so amazing.

and on a more personal opinon, i'm getting kind of tired of david a.'s inspirational "has such a great message" songs (evvvvvery weeeek)

Although I do like David Cook and think he's got talent, I prefer David Archuleta more. He is blessed with a raw, natural talent and knows how to use it. Yes, he did forget the lyrics one week, but these people are not perfect and are going to make mistakes. I don't think people realize how hard it must be to get up there in front of a huge audience and millions of viewers and be able to pull it off perfectly. You also have to consider the fact that David is only 17, and I, for one, think he does an amazing job of doing what most adults couldn't do. Also, you have to remember he has to keep up with school, as well as learn his solo song every week, record it for iTunes, film a commercial, and learn and rehearse the group songs. That's a lot to fit in one week. On top of everything else, he seems like such a great kid. With his personality and values he would be a perfect role model to fill the American Idol shoes. As far as his choice of songs, obviously last week he was supposed to pick an inspirational song, but I think he likes those types of songs because he sings from the heart and he enjoys singing songs that have meaningful lyrics. Isn't that what music is all about? He just sings with a lot of passion and I commend him for choosing songs that mean something to him and appreciating these types of songs at such a young age. I think that no matter who wins, both of the Davids are going to get great record deals and go a long way.

Personally , I LOVE DAVID COOK!!!! I will buy any album of his without even hearing a sample. He has natural talent and puts emotion into his music. He gives me goosebumps. And, Im not some horny little teenage girl... Im a 35 year old married mom of three. Ive already told my hubby that if David Cook comes anywhere within a 300 mile radius, Im on my way.....

I think he is very cute and he has a unique style. I’ll buy all his album, and DL all his songs.
David A. has a good voice but when he is singing , I don’t see a 17 year old , all I see is someone who has a nice voice, and I think he can sing but he needs more time to find himself first.

David A. needs to stop breathing so heavily between every word. Its distracting..... He needs a little more time to mature into the music and the role... he needs a little more stage presence. He doesnt look quite as comfortable performing that DC does...
Of course, Im biased towards David Cook!!!!
David C, If you read these... Im so proud of you!! You have already made it!!!! Keep true to yourself.

I say a rocker needs to win this show sooner or later and David Cook has showed that he is an amazing versatile singer and deserves the title of American Idol more than anyone this season Archuleta is good too but just singing ballads every week kind of bores me to death (just my opinion don't send me hate messages not that I don't like Archuleta) lol anyway Cook should defiantly win to make up for Daughtry losing to stupid Taylor Hicks in season 5 (that guys career really took off...) haha no matter what happens though Archuleta defiantly has a bright future ahead of him the kid is talented.
