Soo, I read Twilight in 2005 and seriously thought it was the best thing I'd ever read, and never thought I'd read anything better. How young and stupidly naive I was!

When I first bought it, it was treasured, as were New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn & all the money wasting merchandise I purchased to. But over the past 2 years, I've seen the fan base grow and grow and GROW into something that is just pretty hectic and down right ridiculous.

I personally feel sorry for the cast, especially Robert Pattinson. Poor guy, can't even walk out his front door without being mobbed. There's such thing as personal space, crazy obsessed Twilighter's (not saying your all like this, because that would be incorrect.)

But seriously, all this hype over a book? Yeah, it's great and all but people really need to understand that going completely over the top, boven about it and hysterically shrieking in the cinema when Taylor Lautner comes on topless (which, may I add was a total waste of £5.95 as I couldn't hear the film!) is just irratating.

And for these reasons right here, these are why I spent a good few hours un-Twilighting my room. All the posters taken down, boeken packed away into my cupboard, and all the merchandise too. I guess i've just realised how ridiculous I myself have been being a schapen the past few years.

So yeah :) As the titel says; Bye Twilight. It was fun while it lasted.

Twilight_Dream ok just because you dont like the crazy over obsessed fans, doesnt mean YOU have to stop liking it. you can be your own type of fan. i didnt know twilight existed untill the movie and then i read them and loved it. i love the BOOKS. honetsly, i think the movies are not that great and thats the only reason i knew it existed. so i dont mean to offend but i do think its ridiculous how you are not going to be a fan anymore just because you don't like other fans.:/

jedigal1990 well i never really was interested in twilight but i totally agree with the whole crazy twihards they really turned me off to it i just didn't want to get into that which is part of the reason i have yet to read the book or see the movie

mandapanda you know what? I find it completely sad that, as the fandom grows and grows, it loses it's original fans. I understand what its like to have many twilight things such as the merchandise, although, I do try and manage what I want. I don't usually buy the merchandise such as the perfume or the clothes and whatnot. When I read the books in 2005, I knew they weren't the best books, but they really drew me in. I found things in the story that were meaningful and unique. I stuck to liking it ever since. I don't know if it's a good thing the fandom has blown up, but it's inevitable. I'm saddened that you are saying goodbye to twilight just because of the fans. You can still like Twilight without being an obsessive, insane fan like some nowadays. But, if that's what you feel needs to be done, i won't protest :) Ever since 2005, we've seen how it has evolved. Since the movies, we've had to deal with the fangirls. But that's how all fads work. Whenever something is really popular, there's bound to be different types of fans. Insane, sane, fangirls, haters, etc. The media twists the story, the internet has the fangirl comments, it's used as a moneymaker, but the books... the books are the pure source. I'm sorry that Twilight was ruined for you and for others. But, as soon as it's out of the limelight, then maybe, you can get back to it. The fad will be gone and you, as well as other fans, can enjoy it again :)

AliceHaleCullen Twilight_Dream, it's not just because of that. I'm sick of the fact i've read Twilight over 100 times, I just can't bear to read them anymore because I know exactly what happens on each page. I've been a fan since 2005, so that's 5 years. Which in my eyes is signs that i'm either mentally insanely obsessed or just continuing being a fan to prove to the movie fans that there were fans before the movies.

AliceHaleCullen & mandapanda I totally get where your coming from there. I remember talking about Twilight and nobody knowing what the hell I was on about. Now it's like "I'M A BIGGER TWILIGHT FAN!" "NO I AM" etc. Saying this, i'll probably go back to it at some point. I'm sure when all the films have been released it will slowly die down. Well, at least that's what i'm hoping. :L

mandapanda ^^That makes me happy. Don't let the newer fans push you around! You were here first. Twilight wouldn't be where it is now if it weren't for the original fans! And I agree. The "How big of a fan are you? List all the things you have of Twilight merchandise?" LOL it's not about what you have that makes you a fan, it's about what you get from the story. lol I'm sure it will die down once Breaking Dawn is over. Hopefully :)

MrsEric_M Well despite what some people might assume, I did own Twilight and New Moon the books but gave them away when I couldnt get through Twilight. I tried reading Twilight I couldnt and yes the fans are one thing along with overexposure that turns me off as well, but I have spoken too much about that today as it is.

Twilight_Dream well actually its the old fans that usually push the NEW fans around. just because i became a fan AFTER the movie all the old fans would push me around and act like there better fans because they read it first. which makes no sense.

mandapanda ^^I would have to disagree. Alot of the new fans such as the fangirls say some pretty ridiculous things and that usually sparks the quarrels. It depends on what types of fans. I don't think the older fans push the newer ones around. The newer fans jump to conclusions alot of times and feel like the original fans are yelling at them. The older fans try to be respectful, but sometimes it doesn't always work :/ I mean, how are you possibly supposed to respond to "you're stupid for liking edward!!!! Jake has hotttt sexxy abbbs!!!1!!!!" that's when things get ugly. Name calling and harsh responses. Alot of the newer fans don't know how to have a civilized conversation. I'm not saying you aren't, but alot of them.

Plenilunio I know how you feel. I never considered myself a fan, I thought that was too strong. I liked the books, I own the three first ones and kinda considered myself Team Trilogy (and Team Edward all the way). However, three key causes turned me into the anti I am now: Breaking Dawn, the hype over the movies and the crazy Twitards. It's sad, but the two latter have made me despise the whole series. It's flawed in so many ways, I know, but I wish I could still think of it as a guilty pleasure, just some silly entertainment. Will you stick around? You can always find some lulz in the fandom ;)

nuxi lol, this reminded of a writing assignment I had in high school. We had to write our own version of [url=http://www.wesjones.com/white1.htm]"Farewell, My Lovely" by E.B. White[/url] in his style about something from our past that we were putting behind us. A bit longer and more detailed (and more formally worded) and this would have gotten an A! It's very similar in sentiment. p.s. I still give you an A since this wasn't for an assignment. ;)

mandapanda ^^Whoa. She just calmly stated her opinion. It's kind of irrational for you to yell at her like that. From what I've seen, she isn't a fangirl. Maybe, from what she's experienced, the older fans have pushed her around. I agree with what you just said to a degree, but in completely different wording, i mean, to a certain degree. You don't have to yell at her and call her a dumba$$.

nuxi also, the lack of punctuation kind of gave me a headache. just take a deep breath and cool off before writing a comment. twilightdream has been very civil in every comment of hers i've seen, you could do with some civility.

tooch I do agree with you. Now, I started reading Twilight in late 2007 (it wasn't out where I am yet) and I agree that the popularity is growing into something ridiculous. And yes, poor Robert. I do feel sorry for him. And I believe that just shows people are more interested in "the sexy Edward Cullen" (actor; person on screen) and all the merchandise, rather than feeling the same for the book-characters and the storyline. I didn't see so much "I love Edward Cullen; He is so hot!" stuff, until the movie had come out. & Yes, I couldn't really get a normal viewing of New Moon either. What with all the crazy girls screaming and taking out their mobile phones and video taping (its called a DVD; Hold your horses). I am still a huge fan, but I just wish people would appreciate the book/story more, because that's where it originated from; Not from the the movie! ~Great article, by the way :)

RachaelF8 I agree! especially about the screaming fans when Taylor Launter came on screen topless. Only it was my best friend and instead of screaming she shouted "Woof" all over the cinema. Never gonna let her live that down! But yeah i thought twilight was the greatest thing a few years ago (bows head in shame)but its just got so overrated i can't even stand it when people talk about it

bri-marie This sounds a lot like what I went through with Harry Potter and Twilight. Twilight has gotten so over-rated and "in your face" it's ridiculous. Every store (except the pet store, but I'm expecting Twilight-themed dog biscuits soon) I go into has something Twilight in the front window and tons of clearance Twilight merchandise. It's so irritating! There are other movies, franchises, actors, and CDs out there in the world and I would, on occasion, like to see them. This new drove of HP fans has also made me seriously question about how proud I am to be one myself. I've seen (and heard) some atrocious things said by HP fans who claimed to be "acting mature" and just putting the lowly whatever-fan "in their place."

This artikel is not meant to offend. It is mostly comedy and uses examples from meer fandoms then just Twilight. There will also be examples that tak lyke dis and capslock. So be careful when reading.

I'm sure we are all familiar with a fangirl. (Or fanboy, but they are different and we will not be discussing them today.) Put simply, fangirls are very, very, VERY big fans of something. Twilight fangirls are obsessed with Twilight and will probably have as much Twilight merchandise as possible. A Bangel fangirl may eat u in your sleep if u are a hardcore Spuffy shipper, and a fanpop fangirl...
