Sure, Twilight May be Sexist, but it's Also Female Escapist Fantasy

While I'm interested to hear opposing opinions on Twilight, I must say I disagree with a lot of what that guy said.

One example was him talking about the difference between the fantasies of men and women "the core elements of female fantasy is the idea of shirking responsibility" er, no it's not. It could be said that in anyone's fantasy (male or female) they wouldn't want to be heaped with responsibility, that they would dream about a life without stress and hard work, but the idea that it's a specifically female fantasy to want to shirk responsibility and be taken care of? Well, let's just say I'm not surprised a man wrote that. He thinks the difference between the fantasies of men and women is that men dream of being the hero and saving the day while we dream of being saved? That's certainly not how my fantasies go. In any daydream or fantasy I've had I've always been far more Buffy than Bella.

I agree. Just because I am a female doesn't mean that I want to be a damsel in distress. Sadly, I think that a lot of men think this way and Twilight seems to only make them think that more. That is another reason why Twilight is setting females back. We can handle ourselves and don't always need a fantasy hero.

Thanks for posting, but I disagree with most of what they said.
