|2|For anyone else watching this episode with a sore throat, I felt your pain. Literally. I now realize the reason I got sick this week was so that when Damon told Elena he loved her, I would try to squeal like a tween, and nothing would come out. And in the silence (and agony), I would be reminded that I am 35. But you know what, it was worth it. In fact, I'm gonna watch Damon compel Elena to forget his little monologue again, knowing full well that the single tear that drops from his eye will make me want to do a high-pitched whimper, which hurts just as much. |3|The guy who is really alone is Damon and this is made apparent in the scene where he reveals his true feelings for Elena, the single tear, the admission of selfishness, that Stefan was the one that deserved her was truly heartbreaking and shows how far Damon has come from just being the villain. |4|I wasn't exactly sure how to take Damon's message to Elena. Part of me feels like he really will do his best to let his brother have her, but part of me feels like it isn't in Damon's nature to be selfless, though I loved that scene, and I thought it was probably the sweetest and most genuine we will ever see Damon. Unless, of course, we end up in an alternative reality where Damon somehow gets the girl. Either way, the scene was beautifully done and I commend Nina Dobrev and especially Ian Somerhalder for their wonderful work.

|5|To comment on that scene with Damon/Elena…I found it very, very, very VERY. Just so very, as they said in Heathers. The emotional honesty coming from Damon’s words, and Elena’s face, was very moving. That moment felt earned, and it was like crack to me who loves that forbidden romance.

|6|And Damon’s gift was unexpected — he did not just help save Elena, he told her that he loved her and then compelled her to forget. The gift was not just erasing her memory, but in telling her that she deserved to be with Stefan. Even without the memory of Damon’s blessing, Elena will feel it. Damon has chosen to set what he loves free. He has acknowledged that Elena should be allowed to choose her heart’s desire and, if that is Stefan, then Damon will step aside. Elena will not understand it, but she will feel the freedom Damon has given her. He is not burdening her with his feelings and he is allowing her to love Stefan. Damon’s gift was loving Elena enough to let her go.

|8|More touching moments ahead. (Goodness, maybe I liked this episode even more than I originally thought). Damon shows up in Elena’s room with her necklace. He tells her that he’s going to be selfish for a moment before he gives her necklace back. He then tells her that he loves her and that she deserves to be with someone like his brother. He then makes her forget. He’s out of the room before Elena knows what’s going on and has the necklace around her neck.

How unfair is that?! it's like no one believes he has any chance with her...
Althogh i have to admit i don;t know how it would be with Damon and Elena together... the show would be strange...
But still Damona and Elena forever if she doesnt end up with Damon i don't want her to end up with Stefan either, because that would be unfair...
