I think she was just weak to rebel against her "aunts". I'm not sure if she cared about the kingdom. She never saw the kingdom after all and she wasn't prepared to be a princess so she couldn't really have a sense of duty.

Actually since she got the whole princess thing thrown at her, she felt the need to be the princess. Aurora is a very caring person, so I imagined she at least felt some empathy toward the kingdom. I've always seen it as choosing duty over love.

They kind of go hand in hand with her but I don't think people should ignore that Aurora in fact cannot stand up for herself for the life of her. That's okay, she's not perfect. The way she reacted when she found out she was a Princess makes me think this option holds more validity.

I agree with Annika :) But I think it's both: I like how Aurora is so meek and is unable to say "no" without feeling bad, it makes her more relatable to me.

Well we do not know that much about her, her upbringing and relationship with her aunts. But because of Fauna´s speech at the castle I imagine she was brought up the way emphasized duty. But I can not blame people who see it otherwise.

I think both, I agree they go hand in hand. But since it's old Disney, well, back then the heroes did everything for better reasons (except Ichabod who was self-seeking).

She was shocked when she found out that she was a princess, but she thought about it and decided that since she is the princess, she has to do her duty. This is something that I really admire about Aurora. She puts duty before her dreams, which is very selfless.

Don't forget that one major reason for her to go to the palace was that she would meet her parents. Who doesn't want to meet their parents? So she had a motive...
