No kid really pays attention to her actual personality, they just like let it go, her dress, her ice powers, and they really just look at her from surface level and only care for superficial aspects of her.

But I also think there are a lot of little kids that only love Ariel because she's a mermaid. Little kids don't really pay much attention to personality, that's something they pay more attention to when they get older.

exactly (and yes, also the dress- which is being sold out like crazy while BOTH of poor Anna's gowns are still on the racks!), just like the ones who only like Cinderella for being the most famous, or Ariel for being a mermaid, etc.

Very young kids aren't capable of seeing the nuances in characters. Older kids will latch onto Elsa's feelings of isolation and loneliness because they can feel that way to sometimes. Younger ones will see a pretty dress, cool powers and a catchy song. I think this is a part of growing up, little kids will be attracted to the surface but as they rematch the film and grow older they will see things they didn't notice before and maybe appreciate the character more.

Thanks to Let It Go which most of the scenes are showing her power.

Mostly some don't.

Sadly. There is so much more to her than just her powers.
