Aang_Lite picked The prince was creepy:
It's always creepy when an unconscious girl is kissed. At least with Sleeping Beauty we can assume that the 3 fairies told him how to stop the curse. With this guy though...

It was a final good bye to his true love who he will never be with because she is dead!

I guess it could be if you thought about it, but then again, I never really thought of it as creepy.

Kissing dead loved ones was not creepy back then.

Digoenes picked The whole idea is creepy:
On the one hand, if he didn't kiss her then she wouldn't wake up. On the other, he is kissing a comatose girl. The whole trope of kissing a sleeping princess is just creepy now. Maybe not back then because of True Love but that trope has been deconstructed and parodied so many times that modern viewers probably think of it as weird.

I take it as his way saying goodbye to her. And since they didn't kiss before, he's sort of granting both's wish.

Now you're saying that it is indeed creepy but love is irresistible.

It is creepy. Kissing someone without their consent in creepy. as some say, at least Philip knew that kissing Aurora would break the curse.

You know, I was talking about this with my sister the other day. I was molested as a kid, so growing up I read every book on the shelf about abuse, rape, molestation, sexual coercion, human trafficking, and everything related to it. So I'm pretty damned sensitive about unwanted physical contact, inappropriate sexual conduct, and everything related to it.

YET, I personally find it RIDICULOUS how up-in-arms people get about a CHASTE KISS that BREAKS A CURSE a girl is unwillingly put under in a Disney movie. In both Disney's Snow White and Sleeping Beauty (I know the original stories are different, but these aren't the original stories; they are their own adaptations), the titular girls fall in love with the princes, then get put under sleeping curses that can only break if they are kissed by the man they love. Surely most people would say, "Of course, she's already in love and the only way to wake her is if the man she loves gives her a chaste, innocent kiss. Surely this is only a win-win."

Well, no. Apparently people want to get their panties in a bunch about something and so go into, "Well, she can't give consent to being kissed when she's asleep."

You know what she ALSO can't say? "I don't want to be trapped in this sleeping curse forever! For God's sake, wake me up!" Because the only way she can say it is if she's woken up. And she can only be woken up if she is kissed by her true love. And since she's already in love (it's established and made clear to the Prince and Philip that Snow and Aurora love them), what's the point in making her wait until he dies of old age and she is unable to meet and fall in love with anyone else?

Are you seriously arguing that it's preferable to make her stay in a Sleeping Curse for the rest of her days, rather than have her undergo a second and a half of a chaste touching of lips?

I repeat: A CHASTE. KISS. Is that REALLY so traumatizing for a sleeping girl? A brief touch of lips for two seconds at the longest? Is that really worse than staying in a Sleeping Death for the rest of her days? It's not like he has to get her pregnant. It's not like he has to mutilate her body. If a chaste kiss is SO TRAUMATIZING and SO PREFERABLE to a living death, then she can get therapy after she's woken from the living death that she can't be revived from any other way, rather than being forced to stay in the living death that she cannot give consent to staying in.

For God's sake...

Hmm, reminds me of feministdisney on tumblr and her banner about how she cried about the movie's message and all.
