I think it would be a dark and interesting idea for Disney to do. It can show how you should let things go and not to let hate run your life. I know people are going to vote no because they want the princesses to be innocent and sweet.
I'm writing a story based on the concept. Rather, she's a serious queen and more of a seductress than the typical innocent plucky and naive Disney princess, but yes, the idea spurned out of a Disney OC I once had.
I'd say no. But I preferred your story on Merida, KL. The one where Merida went off on an adventure with Gabriel to save the day? THAT was good. The revenge avenue was already well-explained in Brave. Merida exacted her revenge against her mother--- and it went horribly.
I'm not sure... It's an interesting, exciting concept, but... a Disney Princess who is obsessed with revenge and murdering somebody? I don't know how she could be a empathizing character or a role good-model.
^^^ Well, I'm one of those people who thinks revenge stories always end badly for all concerned. It perhaps was "the revenge tint" I recognized in Merida after her mother destroyed her bow. But with straight-up revenge--- I think of Hamlet, Macbeth, King Lear, Coriolanus, and others. It doesn't go well at all. It would be a one-time watch movie for me.
^^ Oh, I remember that episode. It was the case of Katara letting her grief and anger overwhelm her to the point where she thought revenge was a good idea. I dimly recall that Katara finally caught up with the soldier who killed her mother only to see that he was just a sick old man...by then. You're right, it is a very good episode. But I guess, I don't consider revenge as a good "goal." And it kind of defeats Disney marketing DPs as "nice, prim, striving, and resilient characters," to let someone go off the deep end.... There is already a segment of the population who hates all of the DPs ( a group of parents who already think the DP morals are bad). A revenge story would be catnip to them, so they could say---" see, we told you DPs weren't good for our kids!!!!" (Just some random thoughts going around in my head). But I do acknowledge that such stories exist, and can be good in small doses. But as a Disney stamp, it might be highly contentious.
It's so bleeping common in adult male action movies, now I roll my eyes whenever someone tells me about a movie or show about a guy who's "out for revenge and wants to kill someone." Oh, spare me, that's so overused.
But Disney would never do that...
