I don't think she is. She saved Eric's life twice in the movie.

Eric saved her once, which isn't saying much, considering Ariel saved him twice.

Hmm. Like others have said, Ariel saves Eric twice during the movie. And she also manages to save Sebastian and Flounder, too.

Nope. I find Ariel the opposite of being a damsel in distress.

Everyone stole my comment, I guess. XD
She attempts to get out of her distressful situations, and she had saved Eric as well.

Not being invincible does not make one a damsel in distress; being invincible makes one a bad character

Wasn't everybody pretty much "in distress" during the climax of the film?

^OUCH. Then us real live people ARE ALL damsels in distress by that narrow definition! Fandoms skew everything.

If you're female and you need help from someone else--- even once--- you're a damsel. I think that's BS.

I don't consider any of the DPs a "damsel in distress".

Whoops! Realized I made a typo in my original comment and called those who are not invincible bad characters! Meant to say being invincible makes one a bad character. I know no one's going to see this, but I still feel the need to clear it up.
