Aurora was cursed but she never did anything naive or stupid to get herself in danger. Snow White makes a big deal about running through a forest and accepts food from creepy hags. Also, Cinderella lets herself be a victim.

See I don't see Cinderella as a damsel in distress. She puts up with the chores and housework because they'd probably throw her out if she didn't and she plans to make herself a dress for the ball but of course she doesn't have time because evil hag step mother kept her so busy. She never actually waited or needed someone to save her she just gets help with things you know, the mice with the key, godmother with a dress. A little helps okay :)

Well, for me Snow White just about beat Aurora because at least on some occasions she did manage to pick herself up and sort herself out after a damsel freak out. Like after panicking about the forest, she goes all damsel, but then realises she was being stupid, gets up and starts working out how to survive now she can't go home. I do still think Snow White is very much a damsel, but not as much as Aurora to me. When Aurora's in her bad situation (being told she can't marry her love and will have to marry a stranger) she does absolutely nothing, just cries and waits for someone else to do something. She seems to have the least drive and ability to get herself out of trouble. Damsel seems to be more Aurora's default setting than anyone else's.

Also, about Aurora not ever doing anything naive or stupid, I think she did. After being raised her whole life being told strangers are dangerous and she should never talk to them she completely trusts the first stranger she ever meets and even tells him her address. We know he was trustworthy, but she had no reason to think he was.

I still think Snow White is a bit more of a damsel than Aurora because she is SO innocent that many people would take advantage of her. Aurora may not be the most independent character but she certainly knows who to trust and seems to have a better sense of reality. And I don't think the telling Philip where she lives thing is a big deal at all, she had already danced with him and in Disney translation that means they are soul mates and are madly in love. It could be considered dangerous of Ariel to go live with Eric, she knew less about him than Aurora did Philip. Eric could've tried to murder Ariel or something. With Snow White, the dwarves left the house repeatedly insisting she not talk to any strangers or let anyone in the house because the queen has black magic. A few minutes later: "Oh come on in Granny, have a seat, can I offer you a beverage? Oh of course I'll bite your red apple while you creepily stare at me."

Yes, but the question is which princess is most PRONE to being a damsel in distress. Aurora was cursed. She never even knew she was IN distress. If the question was "Which princess is the biggest damsel in distress in her movie" I would likely pick Aurora. But it's not.

I know you made that point about Ariel and Eric murdering her, but Ariel rescued him and he loved her voice, which in disney translation means that he's a nice guy, just like the point you made about Aurora & Phillip dancing together.

Snow White did freak out in the forest, but she managed to pick herself up afterwards. And in the dwarves house, she certainly knows how to take care of herself and gives the dwarves some sass too.

If Aurora was in Snow White's situation, for example, like they switched spots, I don't think Aurora could've picked herself up after being "chased" in the forest and threatened to be stabbed. I also think she wouldn't have broken into the dwarves house.

A little risky thing to do for Snow White, but if you don't want to be a damsel in distress you have to take risks.

Aurora probably would have starved and died, because her personality isn't as forceful.

I don't think we really know enough about Aurora to judge her personality. I mean, I don't think it's "damsel" behaviour to cry after being told you're never allowed to see your true love again. And I find her to be rather witty like when she says to the owl "Oh, it's my dream prince...your highness" which always make me feel like she can socialize without being taken advantage of.

Snow White is a little bit sassy with the dwarves, I admit but she just gets herself into stupid situations. Like, I'm sorry but the whole hag scene just takes away any chance she has of not getting my vote. It's like things go through on ear and out the other...although I suppose that could be more stupidity than damselish. She just seems to get herself in situations whereas Aurora doesn't ever do anything dangerous.

Because Aurora never takes risks. I guess with Phillip she kinda did, but Phillip went after her first. Snow White broke into the house.

And Snow White wouldn't have gotten herself out of the apple situation without the prince kissing her. But she holds the responsibility for being in the sleeping death because she chose to eat the apple. Aurora had no choice but to touch the spindle.

A damsel would constantly need help in a dangerous situation. That, to me, is Aurora.

But Aurora NEVER puts herself in a dangerous situation. How can you decide how she'd handle herself?

Snow White gets herself into situations by just being naive. She needs the prince to save her just as much as Aurora does, only difference is she CAUSED her own peril.

Anyway, this argument is kind of pointless since there's no right or wrong answer. I see them both as damsels in distress, just Snow White a little more. But I respect your opinion.

For once I must agree with princesslullaby but how did Belle and Jasmine get any votes I mean Belle did get chased by wolves but when a pack of wolves come and she has only a stick to help herself you need help and Jasmine was in an hour glass well what is she suppose to get out with her tiara or earrings and Cinderella she doesn't get into as much damsel in ditress as the Snow White and Aurora Aurora was a damsel all her life she was under a curse Aurora and Snow White are damsels Cinderella was a damsel but in the third movie she's so not a damsel anymore the others can take care of themselves their so not damsels in distress
