I knew everyone was going to choose Belle. But storybooks don't make you good at math, unfortunately.

BelleAnastasia picked Rapunzel:
Why Belle? She mainly reads fiction...
Also why Mulan? I think Mulan might be good in physics, but why maths?
Rapunzel reads educational books, I guess she has might know quite a bit about maths.

And Mulan. To whoever said that storybooks don't make you good at math, you don't quite understand reading. Reading and writing are subjects that stimulate THINKING. Math is, by nature, logical thinking. Belle was disliked by the townspeople for being a brilliant, freethinking young woman. Remember what Gaston told her? "It's not right for a woman to read. Soon she starts getting ideas and THINKING." Reading makes people practice thinking in order to formulate ideas logically. So, naturally, it would make sense that she, too, would be good at mathematics.

I can see her learning a lot, even though she's a farm girl. Let's face it, Asians are smart. I picture her mother teaching her with an abacus... I think she's very well educated as a young woman.

court9008 picked Tiana:
I chose Tiana because she wanted to open up a restaurant. Well, I believe there has some to be some strong math skills involved in operating a business. Plus, she was diligent with saving up the money to buy the building.

Because she is good in strategic games - people who are able to see patterns on the first look are normally good at math, too.

My second choice would be Rapunzel, because of her interest in astronomy.

Oh, and I don't think that Belle is good at math - I have had contact with a lot of people who like to read a lot in my live - and in my experience, they mostly suck at math. That goes back to my school years, those who took the advanced math course tended to avoid the literature and language courses and the other way around. I'm sure that Belle is good in a lot of things, especially history and philosophy, but I see her struggling with math.

@Summer_Leanne: I can see your point. True, reading does stimulate thinking, but you have read about maths to understand the subject. Belle reads fiction, her thinking might be stimulated, but not her mathematical skills.

@Summer_Leanne: As a math major, if I could learn math by reading storybooks, I would be reading novels instead of studying for finals.

^ I completely understand! : ) I'm not trying to say you're wrong, I'm merely saying that if you read in depth things like Plato's discourses or the philosophies of the Iliad, then you CAN be prepared to engage in the critical thinking that comes with Calculus, etc... Math is essentially critical thinking and memorization. All I'm saying is that there is a possibility that reading IN GENERAL (those who only read fiction don't count) has the potential to prepare someone for the critical thinking portions of mathematics. And we don't know for sure that all Belle read was fiction..and we don't know that she didn't read for the sake of critical reading, at times. Sure, she said that a fictional book was her favorite, but that doesn't mean she never read anything in-depth/philosophical/scientific. That's why I said that, along with Mulan of course, Belle could possibly have the potential to be, in my opinion, good at math.

Hmm..okay, you have a point in that if you are reading something non-literary, you could have developed a sort of problem-solving method or logic. In the case that Belle read books like that, she would have a certain potential to learn mathematics well. This question is difficult because math isn't just something you learn by living or observing (except for geometry, I suppose), and so none of the princesses would really be good at math... I think I'm digging into this question too much.
