Welcome to the Spoiler Room, a safe place for spoiler addicts to come on a weekly basis to learn what’s coming next on their favorite shows and, hopefully, get a few of their own questions answered. If you want scoop on a specific show, send your questions to spoilerroom@ew.com.
'How to Get Away with Murder' boss talks killer twist
Here’s a fun fact: Sam’s murder has come right before Christmas vacation. “They’ve now murdered someone and they’re supposed to all go off in their separate directions,” showrunner Pete Nowalk says. “We’re going to get a glimpse of that in one of the episodes, like what happened over Christmas break and how they all had to return to their families and loved ones in probably the time of their lives that they least feel like the people they used to be.”
When are we going to learn more about Kitty on
We’ll actually get some flashbacks into her past soon. “The flashbacks will tell the story of how Sherlock and Kitty came to meet,” executive producer Rob Doherty tells me. “We’ll tell a story that spans a couple of months, from the day they met in London to her ultimately agreeing to take him up on his offer and become his protégé.”
The group will disagree on how to handle getting their people back from the hospital, and you’ll be surprised by whose side Daryl falls on. Of course, not everything will go to plan, setting the stage for what sounds like an epic showdown in the midseason finale.
There’s certainly a chance, especially when Amelia gets obsessed with the tumor. “Amelia almost starts to form a bit of a relationship with it,” Caterina Scorsone says. “She’s so awed by the mystery of this impending doom. It becomes personal for her. She’s lost so many people in her own life that saving lives has become really the central focus of her energy.” How will Hermann feel? “Ultimately she’s on a mission to save babies,” Scorsone says. “She eventually puts that ahead of her skepticism about the surgery.”
Do not miss Sunday’s explosive episode, in which Carrie works to make sure the prisoner exchange all goes to plan. (Hint: It won’t.) Though there’s been clues laid out throughout the season, you’ll never see the surprise twist coming.
Do you know when we’ll find out who killed Sara on
I took your question straight to executive producer Marc Guggenheim: “I’ve always maintained that you’d find out the answer to who murdered Sara by the end of the year,” he says. “That said, I will say that the S.T.A.R. Labs team is going to end up providing a critical piece of information that cracks open the whole case, but that doesn’t necessarily happen in [the crossover].”
The third season will pick up at the tail end of 1982, which is about a four month time jump. But Phillip and Elizabeth have yet to decide whether or not to allow Paige in the Seconds Generation Illegals program. “There’s been a struggle mightly with that question that came up at the end of season 2, which is: What should we do?” executive producer Joe Weisberg says. “And they’re not in accord.”
between characters who haven’t interacted like Josh/Elijah, Elijah/Kol, Finn/Mikael, etc.?
midseason finale, the always-and-forever siblings are going to have a lot of plotting to do. “As everyone’s gathering for the holidays, the villain count is growing, and it’s all going to come to a head,” executive producer Julie Plec says. Most importantly, Mikael’s return will result in the Destroyer coming face-to-face with wife Esther for the first time since Klaus killed her. But will he kiss her or kill her?
I hear he’s not, but his lady friend (Dichen Lachman) certainly is. She’ll waste no time digging into Fiona’s life, even going so far as to show up at her job to get the scoop on the eldest Gallagher.
during their holiday episode. “Daphne and Bay want each other’s lives and their lives get switched,” Lea Thompson teases. “There’s magic involved.” But the girls may get more than they wished for when they discover the Kennish family is not on the best of terms and Regina is back to her drinking days.
Best news I’ve heard all week: Dean Thomas proves he’s still a Gryffindor.
That’s a wrap on this week’s Spoiler Room. Be sure to email your questions to spoilerroom@ew.com or tweet them to @NatalieAbrams.
