r finally revealed that Wes (Alfred Enoch) was actually the one to land the death blow on Sam (Tom Verica), the cast opened up to

on some of the best theories they heard before the killer reveal.

1. “My favorite was that Sam wasn’t dead. This was just Annalise playing a game on them to teach them. This was their final exam. I also heard someone say Sam was watching them in the woods when they flashed to his face, he was watching them through the trees. These are just things I read online. There are some really good theories, but I try not to read too many of them, too, because it makes me doubt what we’ve done. I can only trust my instinct, wrong or right, but I just don’t want to go back and hate myself for not doing things that we should’ve done later or earlier.”

2. “There definitely was some part of me that wished Asher had an elaborate thought process that the whole slightly duncy, douchey thing was a big act and it’s a

type moment and he’s the plotting, conniving, worst of all of them as opposed to the one who never actually lies of the group.”

3. “[An ABC publicist’s mother] was half asleep, but she saw the pilot and called the next morning and said, ‘I think I’ve figured out who the killer is. I think it’s Tom Verica.’ She’s like, ‘Were you awake?’ ‘I was awake… I drifted off for a minute.’ That was one of the more entertaining ones.”

4. “A lot of people think [sleeping with Asher] is Bonnie’s alibi. Because we all love this job so much and we don’t know how anything is going to wrap up, I know there were days where all of us were like, ‘Guys, it’s me. I’m going to be gone.’ I was for sure like, ‘Bonnie Winterbottom is going to be hanging herself in the attic.’ The writers were funny because they were like, ‘I can’t believe none of you have figured it out, it’s been right in front of you this whole time.’ We all thought it was more complicated. You also look at Alfie’s face and think it can’t be him.”

5. “An aunt of mine thought that Annalise made them do it, like that was their final exam, to kill and get away with it.”

6. “Jokingly, people came up with the odd outlandish statement, more in jest than in seriousness, that it’s going to be the drunk couple or the campus cop. Thankfully I don’t think we were in danger of that. It was more satisfying. You don’t want to set up this whole mystery and now it’s someone you saw for one second in the first episode who actually did it and you couldn’t have worked it out. It’s retrospectively engineered to make you feel something about that when you wouldn’t if it wasn’t such a bleak twist. That was never seriously suggested. But everything was possible.”

7. “I said they’re going to surprise everyone and it’s going to be like I tripped and fell into the trophy and they discovered me there, that there was nobody behind it.”

8. “Our uber driver thought that Annalise wants to kill Sam because she’s so mad at him, so she therefore orchestrates the whole thing and we think it was us, but actually she was the one that framed us to do it.”
