Finding a Way to Unwind
Later that day, I was walking down the straat with Allen. He did most of the talking. I mostly listened. He then said, "John, you're a little quiet. What's wrong?" I said, "Nothing." He said, "I know something's wrong." I told him about my nightmare and how it forced me to get up early. Allen said, "That's a terrible nightmare." I said, "I tell myself that I'm fine, but I'm not sure if I am." He said, "You're obviously traumatized from almost being killed." I said, "Yeah." He said, "You know what u need, a way to relax. Have u ever tried camping?" I said, "No." He said, "Maybe u would enjoy it." With permission from Allen's parents and my uncle, we went camping. There's something about being connected to nature. The forest seemed so surreal and dreamlike, especially in the morning. It made me want to write a song. I grabbed my pen and my notebook and began to write. I never went anywhere without those things and my guitar, except to school. Allen asked, "What are u writing?" I said, "A song." He said, "Cool. I've played songs, but I've never written one." I said, "It's easy, really. u just have to find some inspiration and let the muziek come to you." He grabbed his gitaar and said, "I'd like to write a song with you. May I?" I said, "Sure. Nobody's ever offered to write a song with me." We wrote a song called "Mountain Dream." We were really impressed with how the song turned out. After we returned from our trip, we introduced the song to Uncle Bob. He said, "That's impressive. There's a lot of imagery in the song." I knew that my father always wanted me to go to college, but after that, I knew what I wanted to do. I told Uncle Bob that I decided not to go to college. I said, "I'd rather focus on making music. Writing 'Mountain Dream' with Allen is the happiest I've been since Beatle was alive." Uncle Bob said, "Well, it's your decision whether of not u go to college." I said, "Thanks, Uncle Bob."

After Everett received his discharge papers and his crutches, Una asked him, "Are u hungry?" He said, "Yes, very." She said, "Okay. We'll get something to eat, then I'll take u home." Una, Everett, and Kaitlyn had avondeten, diner at a nice restaurant. As they ate, Una asked, "So, Kaitlyn, what are u majoring in?" Kaitlyn replied, "Well, I'm a biology major. I'm hoping to be a veterinarian." Una said, "You're an animal lover. That's great!" Kaitlyn said, "Yes, I've always been an animal lover. How about you?" Una replied, "Well, I always wanted a dog, but my mother is highly allergic. With that being said, I'm so busy with acting, I'm not sure I'd have time for one now." Kaitlyn said, "That's true. Dogs do require a lot of attention. I'm hoping to get one after I finish with veterinary school and get meer settled." Everett smiled as he listened to Una and Kaitlyn's conversation. He was happy to see that they were getting along so well. He thought, This is wonderful. I think it'll work if Una and I decide to get married.

"What do u mean?" Una once again prepared to listen. Everett replied, "While my immediate family was supportive of my dream to go into film editing, not everyone was kind. Lots of people told me that I couldn't do it: most of my schoolmates, some teachers, even my extended family." She said, "How awful!" He said, "I know, but I didn't let that keep me down. My father even told me that I should go for it, no matter what anyone says. I looked at different film schools, and I got accepted into one that is fairly close to where I grew up. Upon graduating, I started preparing to go to film school. I started that fall, and I got a job at the local diner to help my parents cover the apartment rent." Una added, "And that's where we met." Everett smiled. "Yes, Una. My life only got brighter from there." She said, "Aw! I say the same to you, Everett." With that, they kissed.
