Netflix has ordered a 10-episode first season of 

, telling the story of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign. Each season of the show (if it is picked up for more, of course), will follow a decade of the queen’s life, beginning in 1952 when she assumed the title and began working with Prime Minister Winston Churchill.

comes from Peter Morgan and Stephen Daldry and is inspired by Morgan’s play 

, which starred Helen Mirren, who is also set to reprise the role of the queen in a Broadway production of 

No casting has been announced for the series yet, though 

reports that actress Claire Foy has been offered the royal role.
