I won't deny that Jennifer is a FAR better actress than Kristen because she really is. However, I don't think that even Jennifer could have done any better. Bella is just a horribly written character and there is only so much that an actor or actress can bring to a role. Yes, Kristen had emotionless facial expressions and was monotone in her voice, but she was just doing what the script was telling her to do. In the book that's the way the Bella acted, emotionless and monotone. I'm not really a fan of Kristen Stewart, but I also never got on the hate bandwagon like so many other people did. However, I do think that Kristen can act, her problem is that she always chooses to play characters that either have some kind of depression or are just badly written. I think she's a good actress, not a great one or anywhere near Jennifer's talent in the very slightest. Her best roles were in The Runaways where she played Joan Jett (Joan Jett herself was praising Kristen's performance as her), Welcome To The Rileys where she plays a stripper, and I hear her best role was in The Messangers because she showed so much emotion in her face and voice. I also heard she was good in The Panic Room. Kristen really needs to pick roles where characters are better written. Unfortunately, not even Jennifer could give a good performance as Bella because she is too horrendously written.

It wasn't Kristen's performance that was the issue of that movie for me, it was just how the character was written, and that can't be changed.
