Just go talk to him. Don't be shy. Start a conversation about something stupid like "cool shoes" and just let it go from there. If you get along, that's good :] If you don't get along, then you'll know he's not the right guy for you and you can just move on.

What they said, if you're too shy at the beginning (which is normal) you can just comment something like ''cool shoes'' like sarabeara said or anything like that (try not to be too sarcastic or anything at the beginning cuz some people may take it bad) and then at your rythm you can start talking more to him, smile at him or anything ^^
