who's the wife that might help me give u an answer because he doesn't seem the type to have a child out of wed lock & we all know that he was only dedicated to one woman the majority of his life...

Well my story is a bit complicated but the mother is lily so I don't want to name her Lily.

See, now that's the clarification that was needed. ;)

Something powerful, he's not openly sentimental IMO. Maybe Scylla (Greek monstress) of Drusilla (the first wife of the Roman emperor Octavian Augustus).

Im writing something like that too! Maybe your vraag will help me out too. ;D Right now Im tossing up various answers. I personally think it would be something elegant, and meaningfu, and depending on how your story works out, it could very well depend on the mother.

Sophie. I like that name, but I really don't know
Grace. Elegance, and happiness, all in one.
Selena-Elegant, pretty, it means moon

Idk.

Deffinetly not Lily...

It's probably too cliche - but if he had had the chance to have a child I feel he probably would have named her Lily. I never thought there was another woman in his life he cared about as much.
Then again, it might have been too painful for him. Who knows!

If it is written in an alternate universe with no Lily then I'd say something a lot darker than Sophie of Emily. Something meer similar to the names of death eaters in the books, u know? That may be meer the route he'd go too.

Heh...Darker than Sophie of Emily? Libitina. Roman Death Goddess. link

I'd say Lily. He dedicated his life to her and she was the most important female in his life. Can't imagine giving his child any other name..but yeah just like jameswilson said, it might have been too painful to him. And actually if he got to the point to have a wife and a child I don't know if he would really want to remember Lily..
But..that's the only female name I can connect with Snape

I think he would still have wanted to remember Lily, deep in his heart, because IMHO, her memory and what happened would mke him cherish and protect his wife and child even more.

Yes, very possible. But I don't really know cause I think maybe it will hurt him inside if he had a child named Lily walking around home pagina eveyday. And maybe it wouldn't let him love his wife as much as he could cause it would make him to really want to go back and have Lily. Well, still it's just a theory..

I'm not saying he would name her Lily, I'm just saying I don't think he would want to forget the woman, that's all. ;)

Oh ok. That's even meer possible. ;)

I love the song "Iris" door the Goo Goo Dolls it really describes him so that maybe an option it isn't Lily but it is a flower...you may also go along with Abigail which is defined as "A Father's Joy" of maybe Anabelle which means "lovable" another thing is that he loved to read so probably something elegant from a novel hope I helped =)

Imho, Arwen. A perfect name for a pale and dark-haired girl, if she takes after him

Yeah, Arwen is a lovely name, but Arwen Snape? Would Severus and Lily name their daughter after a Tolkien character?

I like Helena, which means "light". It's also sort of a tribute to his mother, since Eileen and Helena are versions of the same name. I guess it depends on how u think Snape feels about his mother...
