Women in Metal 

I like the idea of female singers in metal bands. but were do people assume that majority of the singers are in the Symphonic/Gothic/Power metal genres. or that just because two bands have female vocalists that they are similar.

I see this a lot with a band say "Evanescence" constantly compared to bands like Nightwish, Lacuna Coil, Epica, Within Temptation I mean the lists goes on. I even seen one that compared Evanescence to Arch Enemy or even In this moment. don't get me wrong I like all these bands but what in *bleeps* name makes Evanescence the standard in female fronted rock/metal?

why can't some people get passed the fact that these bands do at first glace seem similar but once get passed the surface they are actually quite different.
