Chapter 3: Student Council Officer
He says while scanning the pages, “It seems that … in this part u under forecasted the spending.” He flips to another page, “but according to your expenses u have overspent.”
“Think so?” he examines. “But we already set an allowance for extra spending.”
“I think your payment for the sound system is quite exaggerated for a rental,” he explains.
R checks it out and he got convinced.
“Well, u seem right,” he says taking out his phone and dials for a call.
Nyle then turns around and removes his ponytail while R is making his call.
Afterwards, R turns to him, “They zei that the committee has paid it in full. They signed a contract that the rental koop will be returning the extra sum when the equipmentis taken back,” he says with disappointment, “They must have reported about it.”
R stands up, “Either way, I need to return this to the office and meld on this darn thing.” He bids farewell.
“You’re leaving?” Nyle asks, following him with his eyes.
“Yeah,” R turns around.
“Ah … okay. I understand,” he says looking down as he whispers to himself, “At least say ‘thanks’.”
He is about to leave when he suddenly turns around again, “Uhm … Nyle,” he says quite bashfully, “Wanna eat?” he offers while looking at the guy seating on the grasses.
Nyle suddenly looks back, befuddled.
“You’re not hungry?” he asks again.
He turns embarrassed, “No! I mean … yeah. I’m actually quite hungry.” He stands up.
“Let’s go then.”
The two of them walk together. As they pass door the classrooms, most of the students inside notice them and they go out to the doors.
“Am I seeing it correctly? Nyle is really with R?” she giggles.
“That’s really cool!” the other says.
“I always wanted to see them together,” she says.
“I see … they finally became friends?”
The two of them heard all those, and Nyle gets confused.
“Why are they so excited?” he looks around and notices a camera flash.
“You’re really smart but you’re actually ignorant as well. They’re excited since we’re together,” he explains.
“Just … because of that?” he seems to be surprised as he looks at him.
They go straight to the café and settles on a seat.
“What do u want to eat? Don’t worry since I will be the one paying. u helped on the papers right?”
“Yeah … I guess,” he smiles as he looks at the menu. “I really don’t know what to have. I only want something to eat,” Nye says.
“Okay then.” He stands up and goes to the counter.
A little later, the orders are served. They start eating, quietly, until Nyle starts the conversation.
“Why are u the one doing the auditing of your funds? Aren’t u the vice president?”
“The Prez zei I‘ve had enough day-off already. And we’re lacking members. If u want, u can kom bij the council.”
“I thought officers are elected,” he says while looking at his aardbei parfait.
“The volgende elections will be at the end of the school year. If there is a member who suddenly disappeared from the ranks, we can get a new one noted that he passed the qualifications. I bet you’re well qualified.”
He continues, “I am not forcing u to kom bij though,” he looks away.
“Why? Were u forced to join?” he asks unintentionally.
“I …,” he’s panicking, “… kinda. The Prez was really into making me her vice president at that time.” He turns back into his composure, “I couldn’t say no.”
The café’s door opens abruptly. Two girls enter and go straight at them.
“There u are! The President zei she wants those papers already.”
“Hey! Hey! Isn’t that the infamous Nyle?” the other says in an excited tone.
