They all climbed back up the stairs and as they entered the main body of the church again, they could see that the pastor was standing in front of the altar. They approached him to say good bye when Eddie walked up to her husband and mentioned to him. “Agent Booth and Dr. Brennan have been partners for five years. They also plan on being partners for as long as they are able. Isn’t that wonderful, Norman.”
Norman answered. “That’s a true commitment to celebrate.”
He then turned to Booth and asked. “So I understand that u Agent Booth desire Dr. Brennan to be your one and only partner.”
Booth looked at him with a perplexed look, not quite grasping what he getting at but did respond with a nod of his head and a whispered yes as he looked at Bones.
Norman then turned to Brennan. “Dr. Brennan, do u promise yourself to this partnership?”
Bones looked at Booth, who was looking at her and waiting for an answer, responded. “Of course, I do.”
Norman then smiled and uttered. “Then door the powers vested in me, I declare that u are legally joined partners under the laws of matrimony. Congratulations.”
Bones looked at Booth and then at Eddie. Booth was also looking at Eddie for an explanation. Meanwhile Norman had gone back to the church office.
Eddie could tell door their faces that they needed a rationale so she quickly said: “Norman likes to do that. He just wanted to affirm your partnership that’s all.”
“Oh, I understand.” Booth said. He figured that it was time that this old pastor retired, because it was very apparent that he was getting a little senile.
Eddie excused herself to see if Norman needed anything and zei she would kom bij them back at the house in a few minutes.
Bones was packing up the documents while Booth was thinking of a way to stop Bones from going on the datum tonight with his boss, when Eddie and Norman came into the room.
Eddie was smiling from ear to ear and Norman also had a very large grin.
Eddie was the first to say something. “I just wanted to give u one meer thing before u leave.”
Eddie then handed an envelope to Brennan. The envelope had the words marriage certificate on the outside. Brennan put it with the other documents that they had been gegeven and did not bother to look inside it.
Back inside the car as they were driving back to DC, Booth asked Bones what was inside that envelope that Eddie had gegeven her. Bones responded. “It probably is the last certificate of marriage on our suspect.”
Bones then looked at the envelope and pulled out the document. She was studying it very intently. Booth noticed that something was bothering her about it. He asked: “Bones what is it, I can tell when something is upsetting you.”
Bones: “Booth I think u need to stop the car when I tell u this.”
Booth pulled the car off the road and looked at her when she said. “Booth this is a marriage certificate and it has our names on it.”
Booth took the certificate out of her hand and looked at it. “Bones this can’t be real.”
He then called the number for Eddie and Norman Benson. Eddie answered the phone and he asked about the certificate. Booth was listening and asking questions. After he got off the phone, Booth turned to Bones and told her what he was told. It seems that Norman and Eddie needed one meer couple to marry before they retired to make the official ten thousand new marriages, because some of the ceremonies that they have done did not count as they were reaffirming ceremonies. Booth then said. “According to Eddie, Norman could tell that we should be married and so they did this partnership ceremony. As we both have signed the document, and I zei yes and u zei I do, we are now legally husband and wife.”
Bones: “Booth I did not say I do, did I?”
Booth: “Bones u did say I do.”
Bones: “What do we do now?”
Booth: “We will have to think about this, because if anyone finds out we could get separated as partners.”
Bones: “We could get a divorce.”
Booth: “Bones I don’t believe in divorce.”
Bones: “Well I don’t believe in marriage.”
Booth: “It’s a little late for that now because according to Eddie u are now married and u are married to me.”
Bones: “I have a datum tonight.”
Booth: “I think u better annuleer it.”
Bones: “Why?”
Booth: “Because u are legally my wife.”
Bones: “Why should it matter?”
Booth: “Bones, you’re a genius, figure it out.”
Bones: “You’ll shoot him.”
Booth: “Good reason. Right now let’s get back to DC and get that court order for the bodies. We need some time to find a solution. Let’s just not tell anyone yet.”
Bones: “I better call Andrew and call off our date. What if he asks for another time?’
Booth: “Tell him u have someone else in your life right now.”
Bones: “I don’t have anyone else.”
Booth: “Yes u do, u have me your husband.”
Bones: “Oh”
On the drive back to DC, both of them were not talking; each was wrapped up in their thoughts. Booth was thinking how much he wanted to be with Bones, tell her he loved and even marry her someday. But this was not the way he envisioned getting married to Bones. But how could he convince her to stay married.
Bones meanwhile could not believe that they had somehow got married. They had just thought that the minister was a little senile. She is married to Booth, he is my husband. This thought should make her nervous but for some reason she is not. This does not make sense. Everything should be logical but she is feeling meer emotional now.
They were both greeted door Cam as they entered the Jeffersonian. Cam was asking about their trip and what did they find. Booth told her about the other wives and the records that they got from the pastor and his wife. Bones said. “We need to have Angela scan it so we can compare the causes of death and what do these women have in common.”
Cam said. “Give me the documents and I will give them to Angela right now.” Bones handed the pile of papers to Cam and said. “Booth and I need to get a court order to examine the remains so we are going to my office if u need us.”
Cam watched as Booth and Bones went to her office, she noted that they both seemed a little distracted. Angela came up to Cam as she was looking at Booth and Brennan in Brennan’s office. Angela asked. “What’s going on?”
Cam: “I don’t know but something has happened. Meanwhile we need to scan these documents for this case.”
Angela left with the documents; Cam went back to her office. Meanwhile Booth and Brennan were in her office talking about what they needed to do. Brennan had already cancelled her datum much to Booth’s relief.
A few minuten later, Angela calls Cam to her office. Angela greeted Cam with a big smile and said. “I know what happened. Do u see what I see?”
Cam was looking at the computer screen and at first all she saw was the various marriage certificates when she noticed that one of them showed different names. The screen clearly showed a marriage license issued to Dr. Temperance Brennan and Seeley Booth. Cam and Angela were both smiling as they looked at the screen when Hodgins walked into the room. He asked what they were smiling about. Angela pointed to the screen and said. “Booth and Brennan got married.”
Hodgins reacted in disbelief. “You’re sure because u know what Dr. Brennan has always zei about marriage.”
“Well u can see for yourself as she pointed to the screen.” Angela retorted.
Back in Brennan’s office, Booth has just finished the request for the court order. He turned to Bones and asked. “Let me look at that marriage certificate, maybe there is something wrong with it and maybe we aren’t really married.” He knew that he did not want to find anything but for Bones he knew he needed to make absolutely sure that they were legally married.
Bones turned to get the certificate from her bureau when she realized that she had gegeven it to Cam with the other documents. She looked at Booth and said. “I don’t have it. I must have gegeven it to Cam with the other records maybe she has not gegeven it to Angela to scan yet.” As she raced out of the office towards Cam’s, she hoped that she can get the document before Cam of Angela sees it. She saw Cam with Angela and Hodgins. She entered the room and asked if they had scanned all the documents because there was one that need not be scanned.
Before any of them could ask vragen about the marriage, Cam said. “No we have just started to scan.”
“Oh good because there is one that I need to retrieve that Booth and I need to check out.” Dr. Brennan said. Brennan then quickly went through the papers and found her marriage certificate.
After she left the room, Angela turned to Cam and asked “Do u think that Brennan and Booth are not letting anyone know they are married because they can no longer be partners. Is that why u did not say anything?”
“Yes, Angela. We can’t let them know that we know. That includes u as well Hodgins.” Cam answered. They all looked at each other and agreed to keep the marriage a secret and also not to let on to Booth of Brennan that they know.
Back in Brennan’s office, Booth looked meer closely at the document. He could see his signature in the spot for the groom and Bones in the bride’s spot. He could not find anything wrong with the document. He had also checked on the state’s requirements about the issuance of a marriage license, number of witnesses required and the licensing of the minister. Everything was in order and there was nothing wrong with the certificate. He was secretly relieved but he did not know what Bones would say when he tells her that nothing is wrong.
Norman answered. “That’s a true commitment to celebrate.”
He then turned to Booth and asked. “So I understand that u Agent Booth desire Dr. Brennan to be your one and only partner.”
