I explained in my vorige linkthe meaning of the this phrase, but here is a quick recap: advance readers' copies are sent pre-published boeken door publishers in hopes that a particularly enthusiastic recipient will personally promote the work to his of her customers, and thus increase sales exponentially.

Titles mentioned in my first artikel included:
- The Hunger Games door Suzanne Collins
- Half-Assed door Jeanette Fulda
- The Rhino with Glue-on Shoes door Lucy Spelman
- Cheer! door Kate Torgovnick

Here are meer boeken that I have read in galley form (another phrase for advance reader copy) and hope that y'all will pick them up upon their publishing.

The Unlikely Disciple: A Sinner's Semester at America's Holiest University
door Kevin Roose
In bookstores March 26, 2009 (US Release Date)

The Unlikely Disciple door Kevin Roose is door far my favoriete upcoming books. Like most sophomores in college, Kevin Roose was interested in studying abroad. But rather than head overseas to explore a foreign culture, he finds one closer to home pagina -- the American evangelical movement. Roose delves into the world of evangelicals door enrolling as a student at Freedom University, the college founded door Jerry Falwell.

If you, at the mere mention of organized religion of the name of Jerry Falwell, are deciding not to read this book, please stop. This is an interesting read especially for young Americans who were raised culturally as Christian (i.e. celebrate Christmas and Easter with Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny) but are secular, liberal and are mystified door the extreme right. Roose explores the evangelical Freedom universiteit much as Barbara Ehrenreich did with the working poor in her Nickel and Dimed.

If u cannot tell already, I loved this book. Within the first several pages I was hooked, and when I finally put it down, I was utterly satisfied. Please, please, please read this book once it hits the stores. It offers a new, insightful potrait -- both one good and ugly -- of Evangelicals in America.

The Forest of Hands and Teeth
door Carrie Ryan
In bookstores March 10, 2009 (US Release Date)

Think "The Village" meets zombie apocalypse. But good. There in a nutshell is The Forest of Hands and Teeth. This was really good in its bleakness, much like Collins's "Hunger Games".

Mary lives in a land dictated door fences. On her side is a village governed door the Sisters. Surrounding them on the other side are the Unconsecrated, an ever-present, ever-encroaching threat. Her mother had always told her about the ocean, and Mary holds on to this dream, despite everything. When she finds out the Sisters are keeping secrets, and then the fences are breached, Mary has to decide how much she will sacrifice to follow her dream. Will she be able to choose between her village of a dream of an outside world?

Now here are two ARCS that I myself have not yet read but at the recommendation of my coworker on her blog link sound fascinating! Reviews below are in her words.

Just a few titles to whet your appetite. I'll keep my eyes open for other upcoming titles and write them up soon [which soon will include Tamora Pierce's Bloodhound. I'm in the midst of reading that ARC now!]
