hallo everyone! After I watched "Down the Rabbit Hole", I noticed that there are some fans that are worried that Elena will turn off her humanity after losing Jeremy. We viewers don't even know if he is dead for good, but if he is then it's not the end of the world. Elena has her vrienden to help her out, but the one I believe that will mostly help Elena when she turns it off is Damon. He is one of the only ones who understands what it is like to be alone which is probably how Elena will feel after losing her last family member (she has Katherine but they don't think of each other as family)
Throughout the first three seasons of Vampire Diaries, Elena has been the one who has helped Damon regain his humanity and helped made him the vampire he is today. She never gave up on him when everyone else did since they believed he was a monster who didn't care about anyone. When elena zei "I'm sorry, u lost her too", Damon saw that Elena is different and kind which is what made him fall in love with her. It was also at this time that Elena was bringing back his humanity even though she didn't know it.
Now it's Damon turn to help save Elena. He already showed this through his brother and Elena already. When Stefan lost his humanity, Damon was the one who helped bring it back. Like Elena said, it was Stefan's love for Damon, not Elena. As for Elena, he prevented her from commiting suicide while being under the hunter's curse and helped save Matt, a friend of hers from being Elena's dinner. This toon that he does have what it takes to save her.

Elena told Damon she would never give up on him and he will do the same for her, whether it takes weeks, years of even centuries. They are each other's humanity which is what will make them stronger in the end and why I believe they will be endgame!

Cateyeskita I am hoping your right.. He promised never to leave her and lately I feel like he is giving up, when he should be fighting for his right to be loved, Elena needs his friendship and love now more than ever!!!

loveofdelena i understand where you are coming from, but you must understand that damon is a realist., he knows that this can't be fixed with a few words. and that it is going to take a miricale to help elena and bring her back from the edge. he's not in anyway going to do a stefan and sugarcoat it, he is brutally honest. that's the way he has always been. i don't think that damon has any intention whasoever of giving up on elena. he's worships her for crying out loud. and he has always put her first, and i don't think that this is going to stop anytime soon. plus, this is damon we are talking about here. he has always been made to believe that he is not good enough for elena, that he will never be good enough, that he was always bad, and that can never change, and that he will never change no matter what he does to earn peoples respect. all his life, all he has ever known is constant pain, loss, and rejecjtion after rejection, so excuse him if he feels that he is not enough for her. elena was the only real person who ever treated him like a man worthy of respect, like he was something, and like he can be good man, she always believed in him, and now, thanks to this, she has had her cruely ripped away from him so of course he is going to react this way. it's only natural.

panther-jewel @Vampirefan10: You are right! Elena never gave up on Damon, and Damon will never give up on Elena. And Damon is the one who knows and understands Elena best (and the other way around), and he also knows very much about loss. Elena will be - like always - very much alike Damon in her dark phase, and he is the only one who can get her back. Delena are each other's humanity, and this new obstacle will only make their love stronger and deeper. @Cateyeskita: Damon can't believe that he can even be loved, and therefore doesn't think that Elena's love for him is real. It hurts him to have her close, because he expects to lose her again soon, and that she tells him how certain she is of her love and that she wants to stay with him forever, makes everything even less believable for him. But fighting for Elena and taking care of her, is what he does best, probably even better when she will be aweful to him. And I think that the poster about Elena's humanity already indicates Damon to be Elena's rescuer again. So, Damon gave up on his chance with Elena, but he will never give up on her, never leave her and never stop fighting to save her. @loveofdelena: You are so right! Damon knows that it won't be easy to get Elena over her brother's death, and he doesn't think that her love for himself could help her, because he doesn't believe it to be real. But he will try everything to save her and get her back with them, like she also never gave up on him. I like how you described Damon's thoughts and what Elena means to him. So, Damon will be the one to pull Elena back from the edge.

loveofdelena yeah, and with delena, it's all about the angst. with delena, nothing is sugarcoated. everysingle thing with them is TRUE and REAL and that's why we love them so much. no matter what, damon will never give up on elena, just like she never gave up on him. and that's what makes so BEAUTIFUL and worthy of the endgame!!! TEAM DELENA FOR LIFE AND ALWAYS!!!!

darkwarrior647 HI everyone first of all this is a very DEEP article that I have ever came across,all of you came up with such excellent and valid explanation,it is very true that Damon got his humanity back because of Elena but now the ultimate question is WHO IS GOING TO BE THE ONE TO GET ELENA'S HUMANITY BACK? Now this is a huge turning point for delena and stelena cause this will show WHO THE ENDGAME IS later on in the FINAL SEASON,I personally hope it is Damon if he is the one then I'll be the happiest person on earth. @vampirefan10 this article is a HUGE TURNING POINT I hope you realize that but this is very interesting and lastly a very well done job and ONE OF THE MOST INTRIGUING ARTICLES I'VE EVER READ.
