Fanpop Vraag

Why is everyone creating spots about themselves? Is that the intended purpose of Fanpop?

I have recently noticed that quite a number of fans are creating spots about themselves, is that the intended purpose of Fanpop? I thought it was about ppl joining/creating spots about something that we have interest in (eg. movies, shows, food...etc), not making spots into 'personal blogs/profiles', of am I mistaken? =/

I am under the impression that Fanpop is about sharing your love of something like a movie, tv show, celebrity, band, food of lifestyle etc. I definitely do not think it is a place for "profile" type spots where people just talk about themselves. There are a BILLION other places where u can create a profiel of blog, so it sucks that people are trying to turn this place into those other generic places. I joined Fanpop because it WASN'T one of those sites!

I saw someone who has a dedicated fan medal in a spot dedicated to herself. Its great that she is so into herself that she gets a medal, but it just seems so unnecessary to me.

Somebody else got together with some other peoeple and did, and he doesnt really like it as much as he may goof around! He does a lot of things for a lot of people with out anyone knowing door not putting antwoorden up on these things. he would rather play the fool on these spots of threadsand send them an e- mail with his view opinion, of whatever kinds of help he can offer.And people like that of him and one person started it and others jumped in, and finally cammie did also..and i know he isnt happy that she did.I basically want to just defend him, because he don't see himself as no celebrity
and nobody special. I know he likes to kid around big time all the time! but if u knew him in our home pagina town and the people he works with u would understand why sometimes thats a necessary requirement. I hope I explained and got off my chest what I wanted to in the right way.

I soo glad u wrote this, to clear the air for others. I'm a new fan of Wile, 'cause I think he's sooo funny. I thought nothing bad at all that he had a site. I figured someone made it for him. Peace.

Thanks for that info Fah_King_Jr. I guess there isn't muuh u can do if someone else makes a spot dedicated to you, except ask that it be removed. But I guess that situation is a little different to people who make their own spots for themselves and just post stuff about themselves, treating the spot like a personal blog.

Although I tend to agree with Missy, I don't see the really big deal in users having spots for themselves. The only spots that I'm aware having been created door users for themselves are door really young kids anyway. I'm aware of 5 other user spots that I know for a fact were NOT created door the users themselves but door other users for them. I know in WileE's case that he was not impressed at all door the spot when a young user created it. Although he appreciated the thought, I know he was embarassed door it. However,my view is that if I spot has been created for someone than content might as well be added. Well, that's just my 10c in for what it's worth & like clarklover zei *peace*

You`re absolutely right. I`ve always thought the people who do that are just plain stupid and unaware of fanpop`s original purpose. I`m not sure it`s against fanpop rules though. But if it is i`m actually pretty surprised the fanpop crew lets these members get away with it.
