In the manga,it showed part of a 'dark side' whenever Japan made those mind reading binoculars.-w-" But besides that,I wouldn't think he has TOO much of a dark side..

I'm a little inbetween. I don't think he has a dark side, as in sadistic-super-evil-dark and/or mentally unstable, maybe just that he isn't as happy and cheerful as he seems to be. Using the whole naturally happy, cheerful and innocent facade to cover a dark, sadisitc and manipulative side doesn't sound realistic. Yes I know some evil characters can be like that, but the whole nice-facade-covering-up-a-dark-side thing can only go so far for me before it comes off as silly and unrealistic and Italy just doesn't cut it for me.
