For all the girls who merely just want to “save the world,” Lindsey Shaw will guide u in “10 Things I Hate About You,” the new ABC Family toon for u to watch in replacement of homework (though we do not discourage doing homework).
An inspiration of the hit 1999 film, “10 Things I Hate About You,” the toon revolves around two sisters who are characteristically polar. The eldest sister, Kat Stratford (played door Shaw) is the “independent, out-spoken feminist,” while her younger sister Bianca (played door Meaghan Jette Martin) strives for popularity.
Being Shaw’s third televisie series in which she stars as a regular, she feels this is “a lot like graduating from PG to PG-13″ when comparing to her Nickelodeon toon “Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide.” Shaw portrayed one of the three best vrienden who’s only goal is to survive middle school.
Although the subject matter is typically the same in her new series, the “context has evolved.” In this particular story, Kat and Bianca face various issues as a result of the people they encounter and the choices they make. “Kat values justice above all else and is always ready to fight for it,” Shaw explains. “Although well-intentioned, Kat often gets tangled up in her own righteousness.” Young adults of these generations can relate to Kat as many struggle for their natural rights and independence.
Among the characters on the “10 Things…” show, Shaw would mostly likely be vrienden with Cameron. “He’s so sweet! The ideal best friend…if he’s not falling in love with you.”
Moreover, Shaw recalls a few things she hadn’t known about her co-stars including, Martin who she now calls “bionic woman.” She said, “[Meaghan] can sustain literally any type of injury and keep going until the job is done. Such a little trooper.” Ethan Peck enjoys listening to “classical muziek in his trailer,” and Nicholas Braun “is not afraid to get his chest waxed for his art” (referring to Episode 5).
Aside from her thrilling career, Shaw worries about “nutrition,” which she believes is one of the foremost problems in the nation. “Our food supply has become so contaminated with artificial concoctions…we don’t know how to feel ourselves anymore.” Shaw, a vegetarian, hopes schools will start “teaching nutrition…and educating children from a young age” to eat properly in order to maintain “physical and mental health.” She later quoted Hippocrates, “Let your food be your medicine.”
Shaw is not only someone to view as great, but she is utterly unavoidable with optimism and wisdom beyond her age. “It is completely wonderful and exhilarating,” Shaw said, to be have such great opportunities in her career. “Each experience has gegeven me another insight into the actress I want to be. I hope I get to do this forever.”
