Bear with us here if we go a bit fanboy, but Little Mix turn five years old today and, well, we\'re fans, so there.

Five years ago today, Little Mix were four girls who had just been put together at the boot camp stages of

 by judges Kelly Rowland and Tulisa Contostavlos. They weren\'t even called Little Mix, instead competing under the moniker Rhythmix.

Little did they know then that they\'d go on to be the first ever group to win the ITV talent show, sell millions of records and headline huge shows across the world.

There are many reasons why Perrie, Jade, Jesy and Leigh-Anne became one of the biggest girl groups this century, but here are Digital Spy\'s Top 5.

Their crowning moment in the series: their take on En Vogue\'s \'Don\'t Let Go\', demonstrating effortless harmonies, sassy attitude and their adorable sisterhood. "I think we\'re looking at the next big girl group," Louis Walsh commented afterwards – and, perhaps for the first time ever, he was completely right.

2. When they ramped up the sass levels with \'Move\'

It may not be their biggest hit, but \'Move\' marked the moment Little Mix proved they weren\'t just your average girl group. Its strangeness was its greatest strength, all jangly percussion, R&B-pop sensibility and soulful growls. And how could we forget that choreography, always flawlessly executed to booty-shaking precision? You could see Kelly Rowland just dying to get on stage with them when they performed on

3. When their harmonies blended together like strawberries and cream on \'Boy\'

It\'s very rare you get a girl group with four lead singers (a compliment they always got on

), but each member of Little Mix has a very big pair of lungs. Better still, they never try to out-sing each other. When they harmonise they are so tight it makes Scrooge look generous. Especially through the

era – most notably on \'Boy\' – their effortless vocals were just heavenly.

4. When they showed up international superstars with their performance of \'Black Magic\'

When it came to the Brit Awards 2016, the cream of the pop world turned up to show off. Justin Bieber took to the stage with \'Sorry\', The World\'s Biggest Band, Coldplay, opened the show, and Rihanna brought Drake along to \'Work\'. 

So Little Mix were up against it to really stand out, but boy did they bring their A game. Their Day of the Dead-themed performance of \'Black Magic\' was a moment that made everyone stop and realise just how much of a pop force they had become. Big vocals, fierce choreography and that borderline Beyoncé breakdown towards the end made them easily one of the show\'s highlights.

Not since the Spice Girls has a girl group made us giggle so much. Little Mix are – to put this lightly – absolutely barmy. Whether it\'s their questionable accents (we\'re looking at you Jamaican Jesy), OTT acting or their enthusiasm for all things Disney, they are one of a very few acts out there today who are keeping the world of pop
