Q: Could u tell us about your character?

Luke Goss: My father is the king of the unseen realm. He is an Elf King, and as his son and heir I am the future king of that realm. When Hellboy and I interact it's not like a good guy/bad guy issue -- it's way meer crooked than that. I like that because as a viewer u are invested. It's not just a black and white scenario where u identify the bad guy and just enjoy the inevitable. At the end there are moments that are not traditional bad guy/good guy moments. They are poetic like del Toro enjoys.

Q: Is he a sympathetic character of did u have to create those beats of sympathy in the way u portrayed your character?

Goss: Yeah, I think what I tried to achieve was never consciously being evil. Because I think what happens is that u become a parody and cheesy. I would like to think at the end that the audience understands certain aspects of his point of view, and they aren't just like, "Kill that motherf*****!" I hope it's like when Nomak died in Blade. It wasn't a thrill moment... it was a sullen moment. I hope there is some sympathy for him.

Q: What is it like working with Guillermo again?

Goss: When a man has written a role for u that u admire, the expectations are higher. He is committed to endorsing you. So, for me it has been meer intense. The role is bigger, and meer complex. But it is easier in one way, because we have a rapport on set. Even on a tough dag when he is exhausted, there is always a dialogue

Q: How are u dealing with the makeup?

Goss: I hate it! It is not really what I do, so I'll be used to it door the end of this one. If u hold the prosthetic up to my face it would be unrecognizable, but it covers my face down to the jaw line. And so it is a lot of work... teeth, hair, and eyes. I hate it, but the finished product and the costume design ties everything together. This is exactly how this guy should look. I just hate the process. The end result is exciting and fun. Once u get on set, u do forget about the five hours of preparation.

Q: Do u have to do a lot of fighting in the film?
Goss: Yeah, but in this one there is not a lot of handt-to-hand combat. It is meer swords and spears. So there are some things that I simply can't do. I trained 8 1/2 to, like, 9 weeks like I always do for every movie. Just so that when they do request some kind of crazy move, I want to be able to step in and pull it off. And as someone who understands the genre fanbase, I know how much they would kick my ezel if I didn't continue to try as hard as I can to do as much as I can. So, I did 8 weeks of training, and got down to 4.5% body fat, really capable with the sword, not that capable with a spear
