I was hoping if I could get serious and be formal with all u people for a minute. I’m going to stick my neck out here and confess that I like Nelly Furtado. Nelly Furtado’s muziek like ...On the Radio (Remember the Days) is great. Currently, I have sincere concerns about the state of Nelly Furtado’s career and since people rather listen to rommel, ongewenste muziek like radio, pop muziek and Nicki Minaj, I just want to gain some insight from everyone here on Nelly Furtado’s floppage.
I loved Nelly Furtado’s Whoa, Nelly! From 2000 and its singles, I'm Like a Bird and Turn Off the Light. I always thought that she would have a bright future.
But now, I feel that Nelly Furtado’s career has severely gone downhill in 2002 when she peaked her muziek with her hit single Turn Off The Lights in 2001. After Nelly Furtado’s career peaked in 2001, Nelly Furtado went downhill when she released her last Woah, Nelly! single, ... On The Radio (Remember The Days) and people everywhere hated ... On The Radio (Remember The Days) in 2002. Soon, the last single, Hey, Man! was cancelled in the US and door 2002, people have moved on to other artists like Avril Lavigne and Kelly Clarkson in the same year.
Then in 2003, her seconde album, Folklore, a 2003 album in which she communed with her inner banjo player, was a failure. Also in November 2003, Universal Group wanted to acquire DreamWorks for 100 million dollars. This caused the seconde album to underpromote even harder before the album released door the end of 2003.
door January 2004, DreamWorks folded into Inerscope label and Nelly Furtado’s recording contract absorbed into Geffen. door 2004, Universal muziek Group purchased DreamWorks causing her muziek declining way fast in 2004 causing Folklore’s single, Try, lost a massive promotion. After the massive failure of Folklore door 2004, in 2005 DreamWorks absorbed to Geffen and Universal muziek Group shuts down DreamWorks in the same year. Clearly, after the sluggish sales of Folklore in 2003, Nelly Furtado – of her record label, DreamWorks, - decided that changes needed to be made.
Sadly, Nelly Furtado seemingly lost tons of fans after releasing her successful third album, Loose in 2006 despite her 3 2006 singles, Promiscuous, Maneater, Say It Right are number 1 singles in 2006. She then reluctantly faded into obscurity for three years. So she perhaps lost even meer during her three-year hiatus door the time her first Latin album, Mi Plan, came out in 2009. Then three years later, Nelly Furtado decided to go back to English pop albums in 2012.
So in 2012, Nelly Furtado recorded her first album since 2006’s Loose, The Spirit Indestructible. So far volgende upcoming Nelly Furtado album was designed to win back her fans including old fans as well as new fans. But that never happened. Her 4 2012 singles, Big Hoops (Bigger the Better), Spirit Indestructible, Parking Lot, Waiting for the Night was supposed to appeal to new audiences who never listen to Nelly Furtado before. But the song never caught on. Plus, she couldn’t capture a wider audience with songs that she zei that nostalgia is a major theme of the album and it revisits her past in a “fresh and colorful way” that had otherwise recorded for the album.
So in the end, The Spirit Indestructible bombed on the charts door fall 2012, and her 2012 tour was canned.
It appears that the majority of Nelly Furtado’s fans have moved on.
Also, in terms of the general public, young people don’t seem to care for her, and adult listeners won’t take her seriously. Worse, she is unable to compete with meer current artists like Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, and Ariana Grande.
I’m afraid that Nelly Furtado is facing a steady decline in relevance. Worse, her fanbase has greatly dwindled.
Even internet like Vevo and streaming muziek like Beats did not save Nelly Furtado's music. I guess times changed because muziek like Universal don’t care about Nelly Furtado like Folklore and Promiscuous and Nelly Furtado only appeal 2000/2001 like I'm Like A Bird. It’s sad because Nelly Furtado is very talented and yet people hate her since 2002. She can collaborate with something like Iggy azalea of Selena Gomez very well. Oh well.
Therefore-
What do u think caused Nelly Furtado’s career to completely collapse?
Why has Nelly Furtado become a has-been and other mainstream female artists like Britney, Beyonce, Pink, and Kelly Clarkson are faring better?
I was hoping if everyone here could be objective for a moment, and give any honest opinions on the root cause of Nelly Furtado’s floppage.
I look vooruit, voorwaarts to hearing your responses. Thank u all for listening.
