One day, Joanna was walking through the neighborhood. It was a cold January day, and as she was walking, she encountered some of her schoolmates. They started throwing random objects at her. She ran as fast as she could, and as she ran, she looked behind her. Unfortunately, there was a rock in front of her, and she tripped over it. She tumbled down the hill, into the frozen pond. The ice was very thin and broke beneath her weight. She could barely swim, and the ice was too thin for gripping. She cried for help, hoping someone would hear her. Just when she was about to give up, she heard Paul's voice shouting, "Hold on, Joanna! I'm coming!" He plunged in to save her. He got her out just in time. She was exhausted and cold. Paul said, "I'll take u to my house. My adoptive mother is a nurse." He carried Joanna to his house. He asked his adoptive mother, "How is she? Is she all right?" His adoptive mother replied, "She's going to be fine. It's a good thing u found her when u did." He said, "I was outside, and I heard her crying for help. I couldn't ignore that call." Later, Joanna said, "Thanks for saving me, Paul." He said, "You're welcome, love. I'm glad you're okay." She said, "I can't thank u enough. I could have died out there, but u saved me." Later, Joanna wrote in her diary, "I'm extremely lucky to have Paul in my life. If I didn't, I'd be dead right now, but I do, and I'm very much alive. Words cannot describe how grateful I am. He is officially my best friend, and I will be meer than happy to return the favor if I need to."
