It’s cute that Jack Sparrow and Will Turner sailed all around the Caribbean looking for Aztec gold when all along the real treasure was in the friendships they were making. Behold:

1. Right from their friend meet-cute, we knew these two were going to get along like peas in a pod.

2. Just look at how they dance the dance of a blossoming friendship as they sword fight in perfect harmony.

3. Despite his initial misgivings about Jack’s tactics, permanently incredulous Will can still give props where props are due.

4. Similarly, when Will makes himself look like a straight fool, Jack always lets him know.

5. They teach each other new things. Just look at this career pirate patiently and meticulously explaining to a blacksmith how to sail a ship.

6. And though Will is, at first, a miserable failure of a seaman, Jack offers him this bit of encouraging truth so he still feels needed.

7. They even start to have the same reactions. Adorable.

10. Will, in turns, defends his buddy’s honor against a brigade of white-wigged haters.

11. Things get pretty personal. Will still doesn’t back down.

12. This heartfelt token of friendship touches Jack in his pirate heart, and he expresses his appreciation eloquently.
