The reason I think this is because in the episode "Kindergarten Chaos" after Fletchling tried to catch up with Team Rocket, they messed up Fletchling's wings by spraying sticky mud on them, and Fletchling didn't like having mud on it's wings, so that means Fletchling cares a lot about it's appearance, something that's true for most girls.
