Prince William and Prince Harry To Present Award In Princess Diana's Name To Honor Her

Prince Harry and Prince William continue to keep their mother’s legacy alive.

And this year, they’ll play an instrumental role with the organization dedicated to the same cause: The Diana Award. At the awards ceremony in London this May, the royal brothers will present the Legacy Award.

The Legacy Award is a new addition to the Diana Award’s lineup and is meant to honor a young person who has made an impact in their community and do work that inspires others without the expectation of payment or recognition for their work. The recipient of the Legacy Award will have the opportunity to participate in a development program meant to grow their skills and abilities in four areas: leadership, social entrepreneurship, technology and community development.

“Princess Diana is widely remembered for her values of compassion, kindness and service to others, irrespective of their culture, race or background,” Tessy Ojo, the CEO of the Diana Award, says. “Twenty years on, we are delighted that both her sons – The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry – will be presenting this unique and prestigious Legacy Award to our future leaders at St James’s Palace in London 

on 18 May. The Diana Award is the longest running award for young people that is given through a retrospective nomination process only.  We believe this is special as young people demonstrate their suitability through their actions, without expectation of reward.”

The ceremony, which will take place at St. James’s Palace on May 18, will honor the Legacy Award winner, as well as other Diana Award recipients.
