If you got pregnant then you have to deal with it, if you're not ready then don't get pregnant in the first place!
But otherwise, no, I don't agree with it.
I don't think abortion is right, but i also don't think it is wrong.
A woman has the right to choose whether she has her child or not and no one else in my opinion, whether that be through adoption or abortion.
I believe that if someone is stupid enough to have unprotected sex, get herself pregnant knowing full well she is either too young, not ready or god forbid unable to support herself and the child then she should face up to the consequences like i did, keep the child and struggle through life as it's their own stupid fault. Or if they really don't want a child, give it to some poor family/couple who probably would love to adopt a child as they can't have any of their own.
However abortion in my opinion should be used in certain circumstances. Rape is one of them. Domestic violence is another. I know a girl who got herself pregnant 3 times by her abusive boyfriend and knew for a fact he would have harmed the child as well as her and so to spare the child misery as she would not have been able to give up her child once it was born, had it aborted.
Disabilities is another circumstance. Now i'd just like to point out at this point i have a little brother named Ashley who is disabled with cerebral palsy so don't get on at me for saying this, but if someone either on their own or in a family is not in a right structure of mind or financially stable enough to support a disabled child then i believe it is their right to abort that child.
I also believe it is right to abort a child if caught early enough along to have either no heart beat or brain waves. Unfortunately i missed that chance as i left it too long as i was considering aborting Christopher when i realised i was pregnant. I didn't think i was ready to have a child being as young as i am and also my boyfriend and i had recently been put through a rough patch and were taking a break. However before i made the decision i booked myself in for a scan to see what it was like, when i saw he had a heart beat, boyfriend or not, financially stable or not, i decided to keep him and to this day i don't regret that.
Another circumstance i believe abortion is right is if the mother herself has a mental or physical disability that would either prolong her suffering, prolong the child's suffering, or if the mother was incapable of looking after the child.
Abortion unfortunately is an unstable topic as many religions say it's a sin and therefore unforgivable and flatly refuse to have anyone under their parish to have such things. However i have noticed a pattern with this, a religion (not saying all of them) who say it's wrong to have abortions do not educate their followers properly on the subject and neither do they give out contraception.
It's a very grim topic indeed and i'm always a little hesitant in answering questions such as these, but reading most of the answers already given (probably more has been added as i've had to type this slowly to get my thoughts together) i needed to have my say also.
Abortion is wrong in one aspect, but in another it is totally right. And unfortunately i can not see a near future or for that matter a far future being able to determine which is best and how to stop young women getting pregnant in the first place. And until something is done to educate our young and give them the freedom to choose for themselves while also helping to protect them things like this are going to happen whether we agree to it or not.
But in cases outside that, where (I'm sorry) it's the own mother's damn fault that she's pregnant and unprepared (her being unprepared I don't see as her fault in some situations though), and doesn't want to accept resposibiltiy or just couldn't give the child to a couple that wants a baby, then no. I 100% believe that abortion is wrong.
Me? I would. I mean, if I got preggo, I'd rather have the fetus dead than living in a crappy home and then end up robbing liquor stores, selling cocaine, and being a womanizer. Because I know that I'd suck at parenting. I'd never be a good mom. Not at 14, not at 23, not 37, not even at 52. Some women just can't/aren't fit to be mothers. Especially if the woman is crack addict or if she has a serious mental problem. And you say "Then just give it up for adoption!" Well adoption isn't easy. It takes a lot of time, I've heard that orphanages and foster homes are terrible places for children, delivery costs money that may have you may still be trying to pay off two years later, and it'd be more people in an already overpopulated world. So think about it.
And yes, the fetus is in there now, but it's still HER body. And too, while I know that fetuses do have brains and a beating heart, I don't believe that they have a soul. I don't believe they can feel emotions such as happiness, sadness, anger, love, hate, fear, excitement, joy, any of those things. So practically in my opinion, that makes them almost as or even less alive than an animal.
