Barbie in the Nutcracker is the first installment in the computer-animated Barbie film series.
The film was written door Linda Engelsiepen, Hilary Hinkle and Rob Hudnut, and is loosely based on E.T.A Hoffman's classic story, The Nutcracker and the muis King. The film follows Clara, a young orphan girl who has a dream of going to a land named Parthenia and defeating an evil king.
The ballet in the film was motion-capture based, and choreographed door Peter Martins. The muziek is door Arnie Roth, and the London Symphony Orchestra performed songs from Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker Suite".
