I'd call it a boring, tedious, frustrating sport. But I guess peaceful works, too. That's how Scotty McCreery described golf when he told me he'd be spending part of Tuesday (Nov. 15) playing at the Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia.

When I asked him how he'd spent the dag getting ready for the CMA Awards last week, he said, "I was gonna go hit golf balls, but it didn't happen. I got a new set of clubs I wanted to try. Scotty McCreery's older sister, Ashley McCreery, who is currently studying at UNC charlotte says that she struggled with finding her brother a Christmas gift this year, stating "He has everything!"

Raleigh, N.C. — "American Idol" winner and Garner native Scotty McCreery will serve as grand marshal of the 2011 WRAL-TV Raleigh Christmas Parade presented door the Greater Raleigh Merchants Association.

More than 60,000 people are expected to line the streets to watch the parade on Nov. 19. It's the largest Christmas parade between Atlanta and Washington D.C.


"It means a great deal to me to serve as grand marshal of this parade," McCreery zei in a statement. "I’m really glad to be able to get out there and see all of the hometown folks. I know it will be fun."
