Fae
door Phil
It was raining.
That's what I was told was happening when I was born.
Here I am now, alone without a mother and a distant father.
I often think he blames me for her death. I often cry when those thoughts come. My dad tells me we're moving to a city in Texas. Usually when people verplaats somewhere new, it was like having a new life. Not to me. Here we are in a new house, new school and new friends. I feel so down as I sit in the cafeteria. I just want to let it all out in tears. But then a voice awoke me from my gloom. A sweet and gentle voice.
“May I sit with you?”
Were the words spoken.
With me?
No one has ever wanted to sit with me before. I look up at a young girl the same age as mine. Fourteen I believe. Her hair was black and her eyes a pretty brown. She stood probably 5'2 judging door the height.
“Do u want to be alone, I can just sit here and be as quiet as a muis and u won't even realize I'm here,” The girl offered.
“Sure,” I stuttered.
She sat and started eating her lunch. I just watched completely amazed that she didn't say anything about me.
She noticed me watching.
I looked away red faced.
“You hungry?” She asked me.
I nodded.
She handed me some of her lunch.
Again I stared in amazement at the food in front of me. No one had been this kind to me before.
“Never had a good lunch before have you?” The girl asked.
I shook my head, a tear fell out of my eye. I felt silly for crying. But then I felt a arm around me and a warm feeling rush trough me.
“It's alright, my name is Elizabeth, I'll be your friend,” zei the girl.
“Fae,” I whispered.
“Fae, what a pretty name,” zei Elizabeth.
“You mean it, of u just being nice?” I asked.
“I mean it, u have a very admirable name,” zei Elizabeth smiling.
I stated eating with a small light of joy in my heart.
The volgende dag Elizabeth showed up at me house.
“I'm taking u shopping,” zei she with a smile.
I couldn't help but smile back. Elizabeth's smile made my hart-, hart sing. Elizabeth started picking out girly things for me. I never felt so adored. I went to school with meer vigor and a smile on my lips. I didn't do so well in class but every lunch time Elizabeth would be there for me, with a joyous smile and yummy food.
“I have a garden,” zei Elizabeth one day.
“You do?” I asked excitedly.
“Want to go plant something Fae?” Elizabeth asked.
“Yes, yes!” I squealed.
Elizabeth bought some tulips and we got started on in her garden. It was so lovely! Gladiolas's and sunflowers and morning glory's and freedom flowers all over. Along with pine trees and palm and fur. Bushes and hedges and over head vines peeked around also. Then on a nice spot in the garden was a empty space for the tulips. Elizabeth showed me how to plant them and I watched with glee. She told me once one was grown she'd let me have it. I went home pagina because it was getting dark as we finished. My hart-, hart was bursting with joy. I didn't understand why Elizabeth did so much for me, but I felt so prized it was wonderful. But when I came home pagina my dad was at the door waiting for me.
“You didn't clean your room,” zei he.
I stopped, I quite forgot about that.
“Go do it, now,” zei my dad.
I went into my room and started cleaning. There was a tap at my bed room window. A little girl stood at the window the a piece of paper in her hand. I opened the window.
“Message from Elizabeth,” zei the girl handing me the paper.
It read: “Your rose will be ready tomorrow, think u can come? Elizabeth”
I looked up from the note to the little girl who stood at the window.
“Tell Elizabeth I'm not sure what tomorrow's plans are,” zei I.
“Okay,” zei the little girl flashing a sweet smile.
“What's your name door the way?” I asked.
“I'm Natalie,” zei the girl brightening.
“Good to meet you,” I said.
“Elizabeth is right, u are sweet,” zei Natalie.
Then she ran.
“I am sick today,” I wrote then pinned to my bed room window on the outside. The vorige night hadn't been pleasant. I woke with a hideous headache and felt dizzy. I didn't feel to well in the morning so I skipped school. Later there was a tap on the window. I opened it and looked out. There Natalie stood with her hands behind her back and that same cute smile on her lips. I felt cranky and wanted to know what Elizabeth was up to.
“I'm sick, don't get too close,” zei I.
Natalie reached out her hand.
“We can share,” zei she smiling.
“I don't really want to, this might kill you,” zei I with a huff.
My curiosity with what she could be hiding behind her back grew immensely.
“What u hiding?” I asked.
Natalie smiled and pulled out a rose inside a cup from behind her back.
I stared in surprise.
“From Elizabeth,” zei Natalie smiling.
Her bright blue eyes sparkled like wild fire.
“Elizabeth also wanted me to tell u that she loves being your friend,” zei Natalie.
“Tell Elizabeth I'm glad also,” zei I.
Natalie nodded then ran.
When I was well enough I walked back to Elizabeth's garden. I found them in a quiet part of it. Natalie in a chair and Elizabeth behind her, braiding Natalie's black hair with much grace. Natalie saw me.
“Fae!” She squealed jumping out of the chair and running into my arms. I felt a surge of affection soar through me. I didn't for some reason want to let go of Natalie, I felt all of my worries die inside me.
“There's something enchanting about u Natalie,” zei I quietly.
“Love u too Fae,” zei Natalie smiling up at me.
“Your just saying that to be nice,” zei I.
“If I was just being nice I wouldn't mean what I say because I do mean it,” zei Natalie her eyes sparkling like the sun on a blue ocean.
“How old is Natalie anyway?” I asked.
“I'm ten!” Natalie shouted with glee.
She ran around me laughing.
“Funny, she doesn't act like that, she acts younger,” zei I.
Natalie stopped.
She looked sadly at me.
“I can feel it, and hear it, that voice inside me saying I have to grow up, I don't want to, I don't want to end up like, like-”
Tears fell out of Natalie's eyes she hugged Elizabeth and cried.
“Like who?” I asked.
“Will I ever see him again Elizabeth, will he still remember me and love me when I do?” Natalie cried quietly.
“Him who?” I asked.
“Someone dear to her and someone I can't name,” zei Elizabeth quietly.
The clouds above matched the mood that I felt on the way home. Even a joyous spirit like Natalie knew sadness and pain. But she was only sad because she hadn't seen her friend in...how long?
I forgot to ask.
The rain and thunder roared that night. My dad was trying to watch T.V in vain. He finally came to me and told me to go outside and fix the antenna.
Out there with all that thunder and lightning?
When I came outside I found the ladder at the side of the house leading to the roof. Someone was already up there!
I saw the figure turning the antenna.
Then I realized who it was.
“Natalie!” I screamed.
Natalie flashed me a smile.
“Natalie no, let me fix it!” I shouted.
“Your life is meer important then mine Fae!” Natalie shouted back.
A small lightning bolt hit the antenna. I screamed in horror. Natalie slowly came down from the antenna. When she reached the ladder she slipped and fell into my arms. I sobbed and held her. Natalie's blue eyes slowly opened.
“I fixed it,” She whispered.
“Yes u did,” I sobbed.
“Oh Fae, look at you, crying like the clouds,” zei Natalie gently whipping a tear off my face.
“You and Elizabeth are the greatest vrienden I've had,” I cried.
Natalie kissed me on the cheek gently.
“Then help me to her,” zei she.
I carried Natalie all the way to Elizabeth's place. I put her down and Natalie stood and knocked hard on the door. Elizabeth opened it.
She gasped when she saw Natalie. She pulled us inside and sat me door the brand place and Natalie in a doctors wing. Elizabeth came bock with some hot chocolate. She sat in a chair and stared at me.
“Natalie sacrificed herself so I wouldn't be killed door the lightning,” I whispered.
“Natalie loves you, that's why, she'd die for u if u wanted,” zei Elizabeth.
“My dads probably worried about me,” zei I standing.
Elizabeth ran to the door and opened it for me.
“Fae, we all love u and pray for you,” zei Elizabeth.
I ran home pagina with those words echoing in my ears
A week later I stood in my house, my dad was leaving to go shopping of something I wasn't sure. Once he left I had a over whelming sense of freedom. I could do anything I wanted!
I stared at the stove, having almost never using it before was curious if I could make something. Maybe I could toon my dad that I could live without him. I started the stove. Something sparked and snapped then hit me on the head. I fell a steps back into the living room and fell over knocked out. Meanwhile Elizabeth and Natalie were walking towards Fae's house when they saw smoke beyond the buildings. A bit meer of a closer walk brought them to a terrifying spectacle. Fae's house was on fire!
“I'll call my dad,” zei Natalie pulling out a gray cell phone.
Soon brand trucks soared into the parking space near the house.
Fae's father came rushing in. The firemen tried to keep him from the house.
“Let go of me, my daughters in there!” He shouted.
“Fae!”
He broke free and ran inside.
He ran through the house dodging objects and avoiding the flames. He found Fae on the living room floor still unconscious. He picked her up and ran out of the burning house which crumbled as he came out. After a few tries with CPR Fae was revived, coughing and groaning.
“Lesson learned, don't touch stove till u know how to work it,” She gasped.
The firemen chuckled.
“Fae I'm so sorry l left, I'm so sorry,” zei the father.
“I promise I'll try to be a good father, even if I don't pretend to care, I do, I'd give my right arm to ensure your harm never comes,”
Elizabeth and Natalie stared at each other with a smile.
“You must be Fae's friends,” zei Fae's father.
“We are,” zei Elizabeth.
“I know u guys knock on her window, I'm not deaf,” zei the father with a smile.
Elizabeth and Natalie looked at each other with a grin.
“Keep up the good work,” zei Fae's father.
“We certainly shall, always have, always will.” zei Natalie
The end.
