Singing Vraag

I need help with my singing!!!

I've recently started lessons and today I sang really high using my head voice and now it feels as if I have a lump at the back of my throat, its really sore...does that mean I'm not singing properly?

Have warmed up your voice before starting ?

Besides, beginners should take it easy first. Do not sing for too long at the beginning. Sing in a medium range and then gradually explore the limits of your vocal range in the lows and highs. Always after about 20-30 minuten spent warming up.
If your teacher does not spend that time warming u up, change instructor ! What u describe is a surefire way to break your voice. u have to be very careful. Also learn to breathe, that's very important.

I spent almost a jaar warming up my voice before singing actually (when I learnt singing), besides learning how to breathe.

Yes, very true, but avoid honey - it's fine for colds but not before a performance !
