I enjoyed Twilight and am considering the Sookie books, are they very gory? as i prefer them not to be, any other recommendations? are they long reads? always preferable to me. Thanks everyone.

I loved the Twilight series, and tried the Sookie Stackhouse boeken to keep busy between Twilight movies. I love them! Sookie is a wonderful character, and the combination of fantasy, mystery, romance, and thriller elements make these boeken fun to read. I would say that if Twilight is PG-13, the Sookie boeken are definitely R, for mature elements (more sex, drugs, and violence than Twilight) and meer graphic descriptions of those elements. That's not to say the boeken are all sex and vice, but they're definitely not for all Twilight fans. Certainly not for the younger audience. Just my opinion (30-something Twilight fan and mother of 3).

The boeken are alot of fun. They have some graphic "gory" moments but they are well done and not too explicit since they are being told door Sookie and she's usually the one experiencing them. There is some graphic sex throughout the series (and the rape in book3) but not as much as the tv version.
If I were to give the boeken movie ratings they would be:

violence- PG13/R
gore- PG13
language- PG13
sex- R
adult themes- R

It's not gory at all. There's meer sexual content though. The boeken will remind u a lot of twilight but they came out about 6 years earlier

The boeken are not too glory however there is a lot meer adult scenes and content than Twilight. I loved the Twilight series but the Sookie Stackhouse boeken blew them out of the water. I think the boeken were the perfect length and once u read the first one it becomes a journey until u are finished. I really hope u read them everyone I know that has read them loved it!
