DairxStelena picked Book!Stelena:
I do love Show!Stelena but I find that I'm completely disappointed in the way Show!Stelena has been and is being written. Stelena are supposed to be this EPIC love story. Hell, even L.J. Smith compared Stelena to Romeo/Juliet for God's sake! Stelena is supposed to be (if you go by canon from the novel series) this powerful, deep, passionate, strong connection between two people who are inseparable and DESTINED FOR EACH OTHER. L.J. Smith wrote in her book that Stefan and Elena WERE BORN FOR EACH OTHER. That is powerful people! This means that Stefan and Elena have spent many eternities together and many lifetimes together since the very beginning of time, since their souls were created together at the very beginning of time. How can the writers of the show seriously overlook how powerful Stelena really is? How powerful there connection and their bond isIt is literally the ULTIMATE connection that two individuals on this Earth can share with one another, the spiritual soul connection of true soul mates. Also, Elena in the books literally cannot live without Stefan. In Shadow Souls, when Stefan was gone, Elena felt excruciating pain, she felt empty inside. Because Elena was missing the other half of her soul and Stefan is literally the other half of her soul (soul mates and the soulmate principle anyone?) The point is L.J. Smith wrote Stelena as a beautiful, powerful and deep, epic love story yet time after time on the show, the writers don't portray Show!Stelena as being such. It's really infuriating for someone like me who had read the books long before the show version came out, someone who grew up reading Stelena since I was young, only to have their love story undermined on the TV show in order to prop up the inferiority that is Delena. Because the fact of the matter is, Delena is incredibly inferior to Stelena both n the books and the show. Delena is a pure obsession based on sex, desire and lust. That's all Delena's relationship consists of. Also, Delena being an abusive, stalkerish relationship is canon on the novels. Damon has threatened Elena so many times in the books to harm her and her loved ones if she doesn't let him control her and be his under all circumstances. The show version of Delena is not much different than Book!Delena in regards to the abuse factor.

Like I said, Show!Stelena should be portrayed as being much, much, MUCH more powerful then it's being currently portrayed right now on the show. It's really irritating and disappointing. If Show!Stelena were being portrayed the way they were supposed to be from the novels since the very beginning, then we wouldn't have all of these Delena shipper running around bashing our ship, disrespecting it and undermining it by resorting to such statements like "Stelena is a typical high school relationship", "Stelena have no chemistry", "Stelena are boring together", etc. If SHOW!Stelena were portrayed the way they were supposed to be portrayed from the novels themselves, I think that Show!Stelena would probably have a lot bigger fan base over. I'm not saying that that the Stelena fan base is small or anything, but I don't think our ship would receive as much bashing as it does right now. And i honestly blame the writers for undermining our ship. Bottom line is, in the novels, Stefan and Elena are literally the heart and soul of the story and of the books. Without them and their love story, the story wouldn't have evolved into anything. The TVD novel series is centred around a young, vain, spoiled, shallow, selfish, 17 year old teenager Elena, who always believed that the world began and ended with her, who over the course of the series, transforms into a much better, spiritually enlightened person because of Stefan and their love for each other. It is their love, with the help of the supporting characters, that consistently save the day in the story. Stefan and Elena's love and their relationship is the true hero of TVD. That goes for the books and the show. And the show really needs to start displaying that.
