I will admit I haven't always been the biggest fan of The Avengers, but I have grown to really like them and a lot of that does have to do with Captain America and Black Widow, who are great characters. I'm honestly surprised and disappointed that she is on Ironman's side and not Captain America's. First of all, I HATE Ironman and find him to be a horrible character and OVERRATED! However, that's not why I'm surprised she's on his side. The two of them never had a connection as friends or teammates. She even said that he doesn't trust her as far as he could throw her. I didn't see much loyalty or friendship between them. Black Widow may be loyal to the government, but she's even more loyal to her friends and the ones she's close to. Considering the fact that she has a hard time letting people in, it's impressive for someone to actually get close enough to her for them to be her friend. When she does have friends, she truly puts them first. I mean, she left an important job in the first scene she's in The Avengers because her friend Hawkeye was in trouble. Her and Captain America have such a strong connection that I even thought they had romantic feelings for each other, which Age of Ultron proved wrong. She even endangers herself of being considered a criminal and having things from her past revealed to help Steve. In fact, Hawkeye is even on Steve's side and she's close to him too. I mean, his kids consider her to be their aunt and his wife thinks of her like a sister. This just seems really out of character for her because one of my favorite things about her is that, while she does keep her walls up and is afraid to get close to people, she is loyal to her friends.
^ Fair point. But Natasha is also protective of her friends and I think it would also be in character for her to join his side, to make sure nothing happens to him.
