i know i could also google it but its not the same as learning what it is from a fan of it :P

And after a series of natural disasters known as the Dark Days, and the districts form a rebellion, the Capitol selects two children inbetween the ages of 12 and 18, known as tributes, from each district to compete in the annual "Hunger Games" where each tribute fights to the death until only one is left standing all on live television.
In the story, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark are the tributes selected from district twelve to compete.
The epic novels are now even being turned into a movie. Here's the trailer. :D
