Asking because I've seen Disney market the 3 TLK films as a trilogy before.
Personally, I'd never really thought of them as a trilogy because the first film was written as a single movie, with no need for any sequels. I usually think of a trilogy as being a series of films that either have a main story continuing throughout the three films, or at least all planned around the same time and intended by the writers to be watched together.
I respect Disney's right to market them as a trilogy though, and am fine with other people choosing to view them this way. After all, they're still three Lion King movies with Disney's name on!
I'd just never considered them a trilogy myself, and was interested in hearing what you guys think.
I can definitely agree with you glelsey^^ it's are hard to picture them as a trilogy because there's no continuation really in any of the movies, especially 1 1/2 since there's so many things that are wrong with that movie but I'm not going to get into that. But,there are three movies to that series so I guess it makes it a trilogy.
I wouldn't consider them a trilogy like glelsey said, I would say a trilogy was something that continued through the films that was constant. And three, wasn't so much a third Lion King more of different perspective of the first movie.
