It would seem a bit odd. But, I never thought Buffy would have one either and that turned out great.

I was thinking the same thing about Buffy, that one turned out great even if it didn't fit the show.
But the question is how many of the actors can really sing. Kat and Candice have a musical background, Nina can sing[Emmy opening.even if she had a small part, they wouldn't have hired her if she wasn't good], Matt can sing pretty good too[the song he dedicated to Ian after he won the Sexiest Beast contest]. And I also saw a video of Steven singing and he was good.
But the big question is, can Ian and Paul sing?Seeing as they are the leading men, if they can't sing, they shouldn't do a musical episode, because it would be weird for every one else but them to sing. But maybe they could figure something out anyway.
