The Vampire Diaries Vraag

Are the boeken worth reading?

I am completely in love with the TV show, but I know the boeken are a lot different. Are the boeken good? How different are they from the TV show? I don't want to waste my time trying to get used to the way the book is when I wouldn't like it half as much as the TV show.

Thanks! :)

In my opinion, no. I made the mistake of buying all the boeken before I read them because I was certain I would love them. I didn't. I never even made it through the first book. I have a thing against main characters being possessive creepy bitches, and book Elena is.

u need to keep in mind when u go to read the books, they're really not the same as the show. The characters just have the same names. Elena is a blond cheerleader who is "Queen Bee" of the school, and MUST HAVE Stefan because he doesn't seem to give two shits about her. (Yes, Elena goes after Stefan, and she isn't modest about it.) Bonnie is a red head who has a huge crush on Damon. Damon is a psychopath. Tyler is a rapist. And Caroline is a reeeaaaally big teef (and brunette). Suprisingly, Katherine is the nice doppleganger. She just goes crazy later in the story because of Klaus. I never got to the part with Klaus, but according to my sister who read all the boeken (and hated them) he is a pedophile. She also told me that the plot in later boeken becomes incredibly ridiculous/dumb. Oh, and something that isn't really important--Damon and Stefan are described as looking the same (Elena even confuses them from time to time). They both have black hair, but Stefan's is wavy and Damon's is straight.

So now u see both sides of the argument. Just remember, go into the boeken with an open mind, and try not to relate it back to the show. It really isn't the same.
